Liverpool Musician Matt Breen Heads To The U.S.A.

As one door closes, another one will surely open and in the case of Matthew Breen, The Endings may have played their last ever gig together but the music carries on. The young singer/songwriter from Liverpool, who has gone from strength to strength since picking up a guitar at the age of 11, has blossomed into an accomplished performer whose reputation has soared beyond the streets of Liverpool and even hit as far away as the town of Columbia, Missouri.

George Harrison understood the heartache behind it, so much so he gave his solo album the title All Things Must Pass, that feeling and despairing knowledge that something has come to a natural finish, no matter how much people might clamour for it not to be true. For The Endings, the run was superb, a Liverpool band with a very big heart at its core, some great and incredible sounds and above all a belief that what they were doing was just another step in a long journey.

When Matt Breen walked on stage at the Cavern Pub in 2011, armed with only a guitar, cracking lyrics and an attitude that you sometimes think is missing from new bands today; it wasn’t a stretch of the imagination to think of this young man, not even 17 at the time, and his excellent group The Endings, going further and better than is normally possible for a band so young.

Like Mercury Midnight and The Guardians before them, The Sub Zeros are a band that has something more to them than first meets the eye.

Fronted by the very fabulous Katie Lochhead on bass and vocals, The Sub Zeros took the o2 Academy, Liverpool by storm and left at the end of their set with heads held high and with the knowledge that there were a lot of converts to their incredible sound.
