Memory is something that is tangible and substantial. It may live in the heart of Folk tales, passed down through the blood and tears of those who have no recollection of what certain metaphors or allegoric symbols are for but they remain, intact and waiting patiently for the right moment in which to surface and bring an image or a thought back to life.

If the past was able to be burst so eloquently by Moss & Jones in their single Ella Brown, then the barriers that were breached may as well have Henry V standing with defiance and the look of the battle won etched upon his noble brow as he casts his eyes upon the fields and battlements of France as he orders the breach to be overrun; to let the past and present be merged with overwhelming ability and beauty by Moss & Jones in their new album Amateur Astronomy.

rocking back and forth says it all,

Not everything in life is planned, not every riot, act of disobedience or the undertaking of insubordination is to be thought of as premeditated. Neither is the act of impulse in which words flow and the music plays around like a pack of wild animals, eager to be let loose upon the world and to dominate the thoughts of those with enquiring minds and bountiful imagination, the lyrics acting like a general, the pack leader whose pride brings him satisfaction as the stumble by chance upon a way to change the world; for The Unintended Rebellion is always one that hits the headlines more.

The internet might be to blame for many things in life but in one small corner of a bedroom near the Mersey, the sound of young music ability and craftsmanship has taken shape and might never have been heard had it not been for what the internet can do when used properly and as a tool for the betterment of lives and social good.
The blown out shell of the bus
on route past Euston Station
is quiet and still now, destroyed a second
time to wipe out the memories of the act of barbarism
that took life, that took lives
in the space of a single moment in time
and the London streets fell victim one by one.
The television screens, the minds of the ordinary
London folk were still reflecting on what
it meant to have the world watching
their city five years later,
the beauty of togetherness, of games played;

A riot by any other name can still sound just as sweet, however, a riot, the eruption of sound associated with The Buffalo Riot is almost without equal and to that end even the great plains of America would shudder with greater exposure and bounding resonance to this terrific band than a million buffalo or bison could manage as they stampede in unison.

Stillhet’s Strings and Things monthly Sunday evening shows at the Parr Street Studio have always been of the highest quality, friendly and forthcoming when it comes to having musicians on board who might have been away from the glare of the stage and the music lover’s hearts. It is a trait of kindness and gentleness that allows any sign of nerves to be dispelled and left to wander freely back out onto the road and pavements and wrapped in its own negative thoughts.
