Whoever the person was that first suggested that Steve Hogarth first come to Liverpool when doing his H. Natural sets must surely have known something about how he would be received by fans of Marillion. Whether at the iconic Cavern, or as has become in recent years a sort of natural second home to him at St. Bride’s Church, the fans pack out the venue, they sit in almost breath taking awe, they good naturedly heckle when the time is right and yet all the time the beautiful voice punctures the often still air and visibly moves the audience in such a way that is barely repeated elsewhere in the world of rock.

Steve Hogarth and Liverpool are made for each other. In the past few years he has made the pilgrimage-like trek away from the touring with Marillion and delivered shows with just himself, a piano and an array of compositions, much loved songs and the odd story in which to regale and entertain audiences with.

Even with Elton John in town and providing what many would consider to be the main draw of the night down at the Albert Dock, those that attended Steve Hogarth’s “H” natural evening were treated to a night of fine music in the excellent venue of St Brides Church.

Steve Hogarth came down through the side aisle to thunderous applause from the packed out audience and proceeded to play songs from his Marillion career, favourite songs that have inspired him, a story from his days in How we live, requests from the audience and the odd Beatles track!

Steve Hogarth last entertained his loyal Liverpool fans nearly 18 months ago when he played at St Brides Church, a cold evening that was warmed up beautifully by Steve’s vocal talent and the joy and warmth that was felt by the audience.
