A night at the theatre can mean many different things to different people. To educate, to entertain, to allow a sarcastic monkey the reason to be adored are perhaps just three out of a multitude of reasons that the crowd who piled in with beaming faces and who left the Playhouse Theatre in a state of comedy fulfilment would have come to see and take part in.

Nina Conti, Jeremy Hardy And John Challis Amongst The Highlights Of This Year’s Liverpool Comedy Festival.

The annual Liverpool Comedy Festival returns for a 14th consecutive year from Friday 18th September to Sunday 4th October, taking over Britain’s funniest city with events at venues across the city region, and organisers The Comedy Trust can now reveal the full confirmed line-up.

This year’s festival will see some of the biggest names on the comedy circuit, including Chatty Man himself Alan Carr. He performs his brand new show Yap Yap at Liverpool Philharmonic and has now added an extra date due to overwhelming demand, plus also at The Phil is the star of Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing Dave Spikey with his latest tour Punchlines.

There is something of the endearing quality to Nina Conti and her ventriloquist act that just makes the audience fall in love with her. The rather special talent that drives a person to perform with a sarcastic monkey or an eight year old inner child on their arms and get away with the most irreverent sayings all in the case of entertainment is one to admired and nurtured.
