West-End Musical Sensation, Rock Of Ages, Comes To Liverpool This July.

Following a three-year run in London’s West End, audiences around the country will get the chance to enjoy ROCK OF AGES The Musical as it embarks on a U.K. tour and is at Liverpool Empire from 21-26 July 2014.

Recording Legend Burt Bacharach To Perform At The Empire Theatre.

Burt Bacharach needs little introduction. In a landmark 50 plus year run in the charts, Bacharach’s music continues to set industry records and creative standards.

Following Bacharach’s sensational return to British shores last year, one British newspaper declared they were in the “Presence of genius” with The Independent saying the show was “A brilliant lesson in the logistics of modern concert performance”.

Now Burt Bacharach has announced six dates for 2014 which includes a final show at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on August 3rd.

Wilson Minds To Showcase New E.P. At The Shipping Forecast This March.

Wilson Minds are recording and filming a new ‘Live E.P.’ at Elevator studios in early March called Live at Elevator. The E.P. will be released whole as a physical copy on wilsonminds.com from Saturday 29th March to coincide with a launch at Liverpool venue The Shipping Forecast on the same day with an in store performance at Pretty Green in Liverpool One.

Each track from the E.P. will be made available separately on You Tube as a live video and as audio on Soundcloud every two weeks over the next few months from March 29th.

Escorts: The Musical To Come To St. Helen’s Theatre Royal And The Epstein Theatre.

Starring Benidorm actress Crissy Rock and Duggie Brown from T.V.’s The Comedians, Escorts: the musical will be taking audiences on a hilarious rollercoaster ride into the wild and wacky world of ‘The Liverbirds Escort Agency’, a place where anything can happen – and it usually does!

The production, which will be showing at the St. Helen’s Theatre Royal and the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool, promises to be a belly-laughing, brand new comedy musical play not to be missed which contains lots of great original songs, with an amazing cast including Brookside’s Suzanne Collins, Lynn Fitzgerald and Lesley Butler.

Original Music And Film Project To Feature Host Of Breakthrough Acts.

Some of the region’s finest musical talent will be involved in an ambitious new music and film project. Recording has already begun on Operation Lightfoot’s album that will feature guest artists, co-writers and musicians from across the region.

The debut single, Eighteen, features the song’s co-writer Vanessa Murray on lead vocals and will be released in late March. The project was founded by composer/multi-instrumentalist Luke Moore and film maker/musician Rich Geraghty and launched at the highly acclaimed Threshold Festival in March 2013. Since then, momentum has gathered behind the scenes and Operation Lightfoot can already confirm the inclusion of artists such as Silent Cities, Thom Morecroft and Sophia Ben-Yousef.

Smash Hit Avenue Q To Come To The St. Helens Theatre Royal This July.

A smash hit on Broadway, the West End and worldwide, this hugely popular coming of age satire based on the much loved Sesame Street features puppets and puppeteers alongside human actors. The producers behind the first U.K. Tour of Spring Awakening and West End production of Seussical will be embarking on a ten week tour of the Tony Award winning musical comedy following a run in their resident venue Greenwich Theatre. Avenue Q will stop off at St Helens Theatre Royal from 21-23 July.

Arthur Miller’s Classic, A View From The Bridge, To Come To The Playhouse Theatre.

Arthur Miller’s devastating portrait of an ordinary man in a clash of cultures, generations and moral duty, A View From The Bridge opens the new season at Liverpool Playhouse from Thursday 27th March to Saturday 19th April. The production is directed by Quercus Award-winning Everyman and Playhouse Associate Director Charlotte Gwinner and features Lloyd Hutchinson as Eddie Carbone and Julia Ford as his wife Beatrice.

John Godbers’ The Debt Collectors To Come To The Liverpool Actors Studio Theatre.

The new comedy from one of the nation’s favourite playwrights, John Godber, author of international hits Bouncers, Up ‘N’ Under and last year’s Liverpool Actors Studio hit Teechers! comes to the Liverpool Actors Studio Theatre between Tuesday 18th March and Saturday 29th March.

Starring John F. Doull and Roy Brandon, The Debt Collectors mixes money and love, as two out of work actors fall into the world of debt recovery. It’s a role they despise but a job they were made for, and they are desperate for cash. But all is not what it seems in this hilarious comedy of unpaid bills, offers of sex and boozy bailiffs! The Tryals of Anne Bonny To Come To The Unity Theatre.

On February 21st and Saturday 22nd The Tryals of Anne Bonny will be unleashed on audiences at Unity Theatre.

This one-women show supported by aerial theatre tells the true story of Anne Bonny, who in 1720 (along with Mary Read) was sentenced to death by hanging for piracy. Fed by a frenzy of gossip and rumour the trial was one of the most sensational in maritime history.

To date (almost 300 years later) Anne Bonny is till the subject of much speculation and rumour, for many her names conjures up the idealised romantic image of the pirate.
