There are forces in the Universe that still hold humanity with freedom to be installed with awe, the passing of a fiery comet hurtling towards an endless cycle of possible infinity, the first rays of Spring sunshine on the back after months of darkness. The images captured by the Hubble telescope and the radiance beyond our scope and knowledge and yet look up at the sky in the dark and see the comforting sight of the Moon, it is a constant that has been in the thoughts of humanity since we evolved out of the Primordial Soup.

Anti-Clique.

I have never been a dedicated follower of fashion,

the committed hunter of trends or the seeker of the inner circle.

I couldn’t care less for style unless it’s of my own making

and the latest thing, the craze of Dutch Tulip, just passes me by.

I love my team but won’t buy into the ethos that sits there now,

I loved them when were so bad we were great and being against type

When others around me supported the local three teams,

and then later the likes of the team from Salford, Arsenal or the beautiful

You’re supposed to be our saviour,

fighting things that need attention,

instead you’re killing innocent people,

Girls, men and children.

You’re giving kids asbos

for smoking their green

but you can’t say you haven’t been there,

it’s something we’ve all seen.

You disrupt our streets

with your orders and conduct.

Why aren’t the people’s voices in charge?

This so called government is corrupt!

Growing up in a local school

taught me no lies,

that the law is restricting us

Let the good times roll…and eventually they did, it just seemed to take a while for the legendary Dr. John and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall audience to find each other.

There is never a doubt that Dr. John is one of the most stylish men to be welcomed to the stage at the Philharmonic Hall, he also has the overpowering ability and back catalogue to back it up, in that, legendary is perhaps too shallow a description in which to place before the all rounder and man of many parts.

There are spaces in life which are just too big to be filled by anybody or anything else. Whilst they are not around the hole gets bigger, it is more and more noticeable and the bleak feeling they leave in their absence turns to raging at the moon and the cursing the stars.

For Edgar Jones to have been away from the Liverpool stage is akin to feeling adrift on a sea with only a single plank to sit upon as the sea crashes around your mid-rift, it is unfathomable why the predicament should have happened and the world is somehow poorer for it having taken place.

Game Review: Kick Beat, Special Edition (PS4).

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating: 9 out of 10

Kick Beat: Special Edition is a unique combination of a music driven rhythm action fighting game available for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The game is an enhanced adaptation of the PS3 and Vita versions of Kick Beat which was released in September 2013. Zen Studios being no strangers to delivering quality games, have also developed Planet Minigolf, CastleStorm and a variety of expansions for the amazing Zen Pinball series including Marvel Pinball and Star Wars Pinball as well as a range of individual themed tables.

Concrete Tulips.

Concrete Dutch Tulips are all the rage in the city by the river

as they trade for increasing vast fortunes

that feed the bloated economy figure, warts popping pus

and oozing, squeezing blood all over the dust potted road.

The second city of Empire, the anti-capital, the gateway

to a new world, has more and more concrete tulips

than is healthy as the modern bubble shimmers

in the March sun and speculators look for another

square block in which tulips will thrive.

John Jenkins, Midnight in Manhattan: Travelogue E.P. E.P. Review.

Manhattan, even the merest taste of it on the tongue is to invite the strangely familiar and yet thoughtfully exotic, especially if of a certain generation or perhaps of a disposition towards the love of the city of New York and its boroughs. It is the thought of the busy, of the cool and aloof, of the sounds, smells and sights of a city that sits so comfortably in the thoughts of many, that to be there is only a film or American television programme away. It is to be in the city that never sleeps, it is not just a Frank Sinatra song framed in the mind, it is a destination that is just keeps on at you to be within, Midnight in Manhattan, to bathe in moonlight of a 77^th Street Jazz serenade is to be live.

Liverpool Sound And Vision: The Sunday Supplement, An Interview With Emma Dears.

As Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre prepares to open its doors and welcome audiences to the new stage play of Helen Forrester’s Twopence To Cross The Mersey, meeting with renowned singer Emma Dears is something in which to appreciate, to recognise as being part of the same story that hundreds of thousands of people everyday who make their living by the shores of the River Mersey. Whether that was in the time in which the play was set or the mirroring of the generations that have followed, if not to the extreme felt and experienced by Helen Forrester’s family, each has their own story at some point of hardship, adversity and woe. It is these stories that fuel the fire of not wanting any of those negative aspects to visit Liverpool again.
