Eddie Cooney, Moirai. E.P. Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 7/10

Liverpool’s Eddie Cooney is the perfect example of a musician who doesn’t let life get in the way of achieving what he sets out to do, regardless of the employment that pays the bills; there is always time to go after your dream. There are certainly those who could do a lot worse than listen Mr. Cooney and realise this and look at their own potential. For Eddie though the music he has been inspired to record for his E.P. Moirai is enough to suggest that this hugely likeable man and artist keeps also inspiring others, for surely that is what he has done over the course of the five tracks.

The Mavericks, Gig Review. Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

The one thing other than death and taxes which is assured in life is that when The Mavericks, the Americana country band with a smile and the ability to make anyone’s foot tap along with their infectious beat come to town, there is a party atmosphere both in the audience and on stage.

Promoting their new album, In Time, and making sure that the huge crowd inside the Philharmonic Hall got their money’s worth with a set that was overwhelming and jam-packed to the brim, The Mavericks, led by the indefatigable and unflagging Raul Malo took the audience on a trip to the days when their music was played almost non-stop on the radio and music television; both in Europe and in their home land.

Burton And Taylor, Television Review. B.B.C. 4.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Cast: Dominic West, Helena Bonham-Carter, Lenora Crichlow, William Hope, Michael Jibson, Trevor White, Christopher Cowlin, Lucille Sharp, Isabella Brazier-Jones.

It was a love affair that captured millions of people’s imaginations. The unceasing desire between two people at the end of their long acting powers that both brought them together but also tore them apart, both mentally as well as physically, was captured in all its glory in the latest well produced one-off drama by B.B.C. 4 in Burton and Taylor.

Phoria, Bloodworks. E.P. Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Historically Salisbury and its surrounding areas have had many instances on when something that stirred from within its valley persona, the shadow that goes through its medieval streets, it’s back alleys and multitudes of drinking establishments, catches the public’s attention and makes this city, more famous for its imposing cathedral and former resident of the close, more outwardly looking than it sometimes is ever given credit for. Though the band now have made Brighton their home, perhaps in recent times the most important city musically on the south coast, the stamp of Wiltshire lives in them and remains part of their soul no matter how long they have left it.

Jimmy And The Revolvers, Gig Review. Zanzibar, Liverpool.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

With a flash of a smile, the humbling grumble of a guitar ready to be taken on a journey that reminds the music goers inside Zanzibar of days gone by when music was played for the thrill of performing and not just because the band saw images of hopeful contracts being thrust in their direction, Jimmy and The Revolvers gave a sterling performance with songs that were eminently enjoyable.

Liverpool Sound And Vision: The Sunday Postscript, An Interview With Robert Rhys Bond Of The Legion Of Doom.

Robert Rhys Bond sits in Cafe 81 and within minutes of meeting him, it is impossible not to feel charmed or finding yourself laughing with great enthusiasm at what he is telling you, about his own life or The Legion of Doom. The Legion of Doom have been going for about three or so years. Robert and Lee met at John Moore’s University where they did drama together and Lee agreed to play an elf in a show Robert was directing, “It was the best portrayal of an elf by a six foot Lancastrian on the British stage”, says Robert, “we have been friends ever since!”

Paul Straws, Gig Review. Camp And Furnace, Liverpool.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

The Baltic Triangle’s Camp and Furnace and live music are a match made in, if not Heaven, then certainly in a hotel in a short walkable distance and with a cold welcome drink provided and poured by St. Peter when you get there. Every weekend there is music to be had in the city but one of the venues that has become a vital part of the music community has that great feel of the outdoors about it and as Paul Straws’ beautiful hauntingly calm music flows throughout the building, even a wedding party guest or two from the other side of Camp and Furnace’s building could be seen enjoying the music.
