Disability Theatre Company Takes Audience Members On A Journey To Find Out How to Fall In Love.

For disability theatre group RAWD, How to Fall in Love is their most ambitious project yet and will be performed on the 6th and 7th of August.

An hour-long love affair, the play uses ‘promenade theatre’ to take the audience on an adventure on the streets of Liverpool, encouraging participants who don’t know each other to get involved in the action.

Developed by Tim Jeeves, he says, “The idea is that audience members are paired with someone they don’t know and embark on a ‘date’ stopping at various locations along the way, with a finale piece at the end. I’ve done the project before on the streets of Brighton, but never with a disability group. Cast member Georgina is excited about the show: ‘I’ve been coming to the drama since the group started, I love performing on stage. The new show is about how to fall in love.”

With community centres across Merseyside being closed due to cuts, RAWD aims to help disabled people get involved in the arts, raising their confidence, self-esteem, and providing a vital lifeline to a group who otherwise may not get the opportunity to socialise.

Producer Graham Hicks, founder of RAWD says, “The group are great performers. To see them develop from week to week is a massive inspiration.”

Tickets for this event are available from the Unity Theatre Box office, by telephone on 0844 873 2888 and are priced at £9 with concessions available at £7. Start time is 7pm and sessions begin every 20 minutes and are one hour long.
