Peggy James, Guardian Angel. Single Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

The paint laid down during 2020 may have begun to dry, but that doesn’t mean the building work is finished, if anything 2021 will see the Wisconsin born and southwest raised Peggy James take further action in her affirming project, in building another story to which her house of ideas and music can be sheltered from the storms, and to which can be seen as a positive influence by all who venture through her front door, who seek change and positivity in a world Hell-bent on self-destruction.

Beyond our sight there are realms of possibilities, so the poets and the romantics would implore you to believe, and who is to argue when you need to feel the comfort of a Guardian Angel, when the world needs to have something other than human expression to guide it, when it needs more than cynicism to get us through each impending disaster or doom-laden scenario.

That light we sometimes see out of the corner of the eye is not always the tunnel being exposed to the brightness of the sun, but maybe if we believe hard enough, we can see the warden who has kept us under lock and key of damnation, being shoved aside by the spirit to whom sees out our best interests and at least attempts to keep the world in peace.

It is in at peace that Peggy James has sought to converse with her audience, with the greater multitude, and her message has always been one consideration, of dynamic, and Guardian Angel is no different; for in the resonating sound the light we seek is close at hand, that in the coldest of times there is warmth to be offered and accepted.

At times haunting, the sound of the first single of the year is one that frames Peggy James as a person of complete sincerity, the best she seeks in others is paramount, for why else have a Guardian Angel, why else but to stride a path of beauty with.

A scintillating way to start off a year that follows on from the darkest of times we have or hopefully will ever know, the light that shines is one to seek out, the light that shines shows the way forward.

Peggy James releases Guardian Angel on January 15th via Happy Growl Records.
