Newton Faulkner To Release New Album On August 26th And Perform At The Liverpool o2 Academy In 2014.

Double number 1, multi-platinum selling, Brit nominated, acoustic guitar virtuoso Newton Faulkner is set to release his new album Studio Zoo through RCA on August 26th. The single Losing Ground will follow on September 9th, and a U.K. headline tour, which includes a visit to the o2 Academy on February 16th, is to follow in 2014, kicking off in Dublin on February 6th

Newton made history while producing the album as he live-streamed the entire recording process 24/7 for 5 weeks from his home studio. Fans could log in online to follow every detail of the ups, downs, dramas and laughs including guest appearances from Ted Dwane (Mumford & Sons) and X Factor’s Janet Devlin.

At the start of the project, Newton announced, “I am as excited as I am terrified by the prospect of having a house full of cameras film me while trying to record an album. The entire recording process will be streamed live and nothing has been recorded in advance – apart from some particularly good hand claps recorded in Paris. The album will be made before your very eyes, no tricks, no producer and no engineer, just me, a guitar and a few surprise guests”.

Losing Ground will be the first single taken from the record and Newton says of the track, “It’s about battling on even when you know you’re on the back foot. You go through ups and downs and it’s about being in a down but being ok with it, because you know there must be an up on the way…hopefully.”

Newton’s last album Write It On Your Skin went straight to number one in the U.K., as did his double platinum debut record Hand Built By Robots. Newton Faulkner has sold over 1.5million albums in the U.K. alone, has most recently performed at Isle Of Wight Festival, and finished a sold out world tour earlier this year which took him to Australia and the Far East. Newton will be touring the U.K. in 2014, and tickets go on general sale on Friday August 23rd at 9am via gigsandtours.com or gigsinscotland.co.uk.

Tickets for the Liverpool show are priced at £19.50 and are also available from the o2 Academy Box office on Hotham Street, Liverpool
