Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac Return To Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall This June.

The rumours are true, the world’s finest tribute to Fleetwood Mac, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, are returning to Liverpool this June as part of an extensive tour that is sure to have audiences up and down the country wallowing in joyful nostalgia, great music, and having the time of their lives.

Personally endorsed by Fleetwood Mac’s erstwhile drummer and long-term member, Mick Fleetwood, the spirit, the harmony, the sheer exuberance of performance is a vision to behold, and as memorable hits, personal favourites, and a chance to take in the two distinctive eras of the band, the songs that became legendary under Peter Green’s stewardship, and the period of excess and scintillating progression that led to world domination, are thrust upon the crowd’s senses, magic, pure gold dust brilliance sweeps over the night with earnest.

Time has not yet been called on the story of Fleetwood Mac, there is always one more chapter being written, one more footnote being slotted in, one extra paragraph to be prepared, for a group that is rightly hailed as one of the all-time greats of Rock, they also know how to keep the fans guessing on what drama will come to light next; it is in that which keeps the whole performance as electrifying and as dynamic as watching a meteor shower blaze across the night sky.

Imitation, so they demand, is the greatest form of flattery, yet as the Philharmonic Hall resounded to the songs of one of the greatest groups, the most dynamic, and arguably one of the most beautifully headstrong and verging on the forever self destructible, Fleetwood Mac, the sense of proportion given to the tired old clichéd phrase, was to be scorned, was to be left alone in a corner where all clichés must finally rest and disappear when in the face of the overwhelming evidence before the crowd’s eyes, that this was not imitation, this was not an impression of glory, this was genuine, heartfelt and authentic in every way possible, this was no idle gossip masquerading as truth, this was Rumours of Fleetwood Mac in their home town being simply awesome.

It cannot be easy being bracketed as cover’s band, especially when you have the ringing endorsement of one of the group ring loud and clear across the venue in which you are performing in and every note sound as delicious, as astoundingly melancholic and brutally sharp as anything the main band in question laid down in their fifty year career. This perhaps is arguably compounded when the band are on tour themselves within a few months and that same band is held with so much deep affection that it crushes the heart and causes shortness of breath. For Rumours of Fleetwood Mac though, they have that endorsement for a reason, they truly capture the soul, the very essence of what Fleetwood Mac represents.

Great music never goes away, it has no need, it can just wait happily secure in the knowledge that at some point somebody is going to pick up a guitar; beat a rhythm out on a drum kit and the vocals will be performed with the right sizeable emotion for it breathe life once more.

You don’t get a better recommendation to watch a band than a small introductory film by one of the most respected men in rock and one of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac, Mick Fleetwood. The drummer extolled the virtues and friendship of one of the finest tributes bands around and as his introduction was played out, the audience grew more excited as they sensed the impending night ahead.

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac opened an exquisite night of superb musicianship with Rhiannon. From the moment the first note was played, the audience was treated to a night of pure, unadulterated brilliance that never once dropped below nothing short of stunning.

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac are surely more than a set of musicians and vocalists that covers the songs of the 70’s and 80’s super-group. They are, quite possibly, the reason why the music is still so loved and why thousands of people are willing to part with their money and turn up en-mass to hear songs that capture over two decades of musical brilliance and inspiration.
