Matthew Linley Named As New Artistic Director Of The Unity Theatre.

Liverpool’s Unity Theatre is delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Linley as Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Linley succeeds Graeme Phillips, who has guided Unity Theatre for the last 34 years and maintained its tradition of staging radical but accessible work that stretches back to the 1930s.

Matthew is currently General Manager with Eastern Angles – an acclaimed touring theatre company based in Ipswich. He has previously led venues in Leicester (Phoenix Arts), Reading (21 South Street) and Bath (Michael Tippett Centre).

Much Loved Artistic Director Of The Unity Theatre To Retire.

Graeme Phillips, Unity Theatre’s Artistic Director has announced his retirement after 33 years at the acclaimed Hope Place venue. A seasoned well-respected member of Liverpool’s artistic community, director, designer and mentor to many local, regional and national theatre companies; he will step aside in July 2015.

John Bishop Returns To The Unity Theatre For Special Fundraising Event.

Comedy superstar, Liverpool icon and Unity Theatre patron John Bishop talks about his new book, football, life and his stratospheric rise to fame for this charity fundraising event. All the proceeds from the evening will go to the Unity Theatre to support work in the community, with young people and with new artists.

The event includes readings from John’s new book, an open Q&A session, hilarious anecdotes, wine and nibbles and a signed copy of “John Bishop: How Did All This Happen” for each audience member.
