Del Amitiri Return To Touring For The First Time In 10 Years.

With a cast of original members and even the original crew, Del Amitri return from a ten year sabbatical to wheel out every hit from every era of their lengthy recording career. Justin Currie and Iain Harvie will once again be joined on stage by Andy Alston, Kris Dollimore and Ashley Soan. The tour will also take in Liverpool with a performance at the Empire Theatre on February 2nd.

It’s been 30 years since Del Amitri’s debut single, Sense Sickness, their contribution to all things early 80s and jangly. “The A to Z of Us will take a retrospective sweep of our entire output, from indie art-pop through folk-tinged balladry to hairy Brit-rock chuggery”, says front man Justin Currie.

There are musicals that grace the stage with such spellbinding brilliance that the glitter and sheen never seems to rub off, never falters and certainly never lets the audience come away feeling anything other than wanting to dance all the way home and sing their favourite song with gladness in their heart. Then there are those that are so astonishing because they have made the crowd question everything they know about humanity and the darkness in people’s hearts and in a nation’s deeds. Perhaps it can be argued that only Cabaret manages to do both at the same time.

When the Liverpool Empire Theatre puts on a show that gives the young blossoming talent of Liverpool and its surrounding areas, it really does put on a show. A kaleidoscope of colour catching the very best that was on stage, whether through dancing, singing or acting in this year’s production, the timeless classic Grease. Every single young actor gave their absolute best and gave the audience who turned out in their droves to catch the performance, a taste of what is to come and to reflect that the future of theatre in the city will be in very good hands for a long time to come.

When it comes to the life of global superstar Tina Turner, the truth is so much more interesting than fiction could ever be. In the latest production to come to the Liverpool Empire Theatre, that life comes to full sparkling fruition in the stunning and outrageously brilliant and musically divine Soul Sister.

It seems strange that after 30 years, some of the issues raised in 9 To 5 have yet to be tackled head on and the change in attitude promised by so many has yet to actually come to fruition. However, quite rightly, the musical has become a national favourite, with audiences joining in the fun in a similar way to when The Rocky Horror Show or The Sound of Music is in town and dressing up as their favourite characters from this amazing production.

Will Young To Reprise His Role As Cabaret Comes To Town.

Direct from his award nominated performance as Emcee, internationally celebrated singer/songwriter Will Young reprises his role in Rufus Norris’ acclaimed production of Cabaret. Following a successful West End run, the UK tour of Cabaret will come to the Liverpool Empire Theatre from 2nd – 7th September 2013.

Ever since winning the inaugural series of Pop Idol in 2002, Will Young has been one of the U.K.’s most popular and successful music artists and holds the record for the fastest selling debut single in British chart history. Will has also enjoyed a successful acting career which saw him appear alongside Dame Judi Dench in the film Mrs. Henderson Presents, and it is the combination of these talents which has led him to star in Cabaret.

It all starts with a radio announcement in which a murder has been announced…The Mousetrap is perhaps the most eagerly awaited plays to come to Liverpool for a long time. Unless people have been able to see down in the heart of London’s theatre land at any point in the last 60 years and with a waiting list longer than it took to write it for the then Queen Mary’s 80th Birthday that means the vast majority of the population in the country still have not had the pleasure, then the Agatha Christie play remains a huge pull of the theatre goers heart strings as it celebrates its diamond jubilee going round the country.

The Russian State Ballet Return To Liverpool As Part Of U.K. Tour.

The Russian State Ballet and Orchestra of Siberia are returning to the U.K. following a sensational tour in 2011.

Formed in 1981, The Russian State Ballet of Siberia has quickly established itself as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies and has built an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and unusual depth. The soloists and corps de ballet are superb and never fail to delight audiences with their breathtaking physical ability and dazzling costumes.

The acclaimed company are bringing three of its classical ballets to the Liverpool Empire from Monday 4 February to Wednesday 6 February.
