Dan Wilson, Leave My Baby Alone. Single Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

It is all about the delivery of the phrase, the way a request, a command, a warning comes across, that makes a person stop and listen, or get ready for the fight that so obviously is wanting to take place in the eyes of the one issuing the demand, it is the verbal order which is only one step away from the tap on the shoulder and the growl in the face. To capture that anger in art takes a different kind of emotion, one not steeped in the patriarchal feel of ownership, one that is convincing, a little bit more frightening, and one that if done right, is filled with the friction, the fire of seeing into the eyes of simulated toxic behaviour.

Dan Wilson, All Love Is Blind. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

Without the feeling of adoration, the heaviness of fondness and the tenderness that comes when love rears its nostalgic head and winks with the satisfaction of a school girl crush that turns into a long lasting marriage, life is not worth a jot. It has no meaning and even if it is just once, a pure and magical once that the stomach feels the tight knot of weakness at never wanting to see someone else cry, then it proves beyond measure that Love is worth every spent tear.

The message of Hope is plastered without impunity everywhere you look and the thought of the displaced and the homeless being made to suffer such indignity in the 21st Century is one that should cause society to feel absolute shame. Hope though is one thing that can never be taken away; in no matter what form hope should present itself, then hope survives.

As part of this year’s Hope Fest line up, a new hope for the ever growing pool of talent that Liverpool shares with the world is felt in the music supplied by Dan Wilson.
