For some older viewers there will never be another broadcaster or journalist to replace the calm authorative voice of Alan Whicker as the beacon of bringing scenes and a wide range of interesting people from other countries into the home. Perhaps there never will be his like again, like Jan Morris or Bill Bryson in literature, the essence of the reporting is quintessential to the understanding. They are also arguably for some the reason why they found their own adventures and did incredible things; the world after all is too small to be ignored and Dara O’ Briain and Ed Byrne are too good to be dismissed.

LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin is an action adventure platform game available from retail stores and for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS Vita. The game originated in 2011 with a pilot film and a range of LEGO sets which became so successful that it launched its own large scale LEGO brand with over 100 LEGO sets, multiple games including the prequel to Shadow of Ronin in the form of Summer 2014’s Nindroids on Vita, while there are numerous graphic novels, a LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu television series and films taking the franchise considerably further into the future to even greater success.

It is a credit to the theatre attendees of Liverpool that there are writers of such great quality with a unique modern perspective out there who are willing to see their plays performed on the city’s various stages, that no matter how difficult the subject matter may be to perhaps take in, they know with hand on heart that the audiences will give every ounce of their concentration to and be thoughtful in their considered response. This is especially true when someone of the calibre of Ella Carmen Greenhill brings her play Plastic Figurines to the Playhouse Theatre Studio stage.

Nature doesn’t just abhor a vacuum, it sends it hate mail on a regular basis, it throws out invitations to it asking if it’s feeling lucky enough to be reckoned with over six rounds and finally takes the arrogant void round the back of the local pub for a friendly word down its empty headed shell like ear. Nature, the one wearing the white Stetson but whose own moral values are that which are vague as to which way in wants the outcome to fall, is determined that the vacuum should be consumed and an alternative sought. Whether in politics, music or in any other spectrum of Human activity, a vacuum is a dangerous entity in which to be stood next to.

One of the biggest problems with humanity is that nothing is truly unique anymore. Our voices are confined with a masking obscurity of soundbites and instant quotes, our actions governed by what has gone before and if by chance something truly exclusive and distinctive is said, it gets tarnished within hours on social media and copied world-wide. In a world where seven billion people inhabit every available bit of land and conscious, to be the one outstanding adult is pretty much impossible, the optimism of this is to only be felt While We’re Young.

It might be a vision of things to come, or at least it could just be a one off confined to one very special musician; either way, a release before the release is not to be sniffed at, especially if it means fans of James J. Turner get a set of four new songs to listen to and enjoy.
