The Neon Demon, Film Review. Picturehouse@F.A.C.T., Liverpool.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Cast: Elle Fanning, Karl Glusman, Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Charles Baker, Jamie Clayton.

The world of modelling and fashion is one in which dreams are made but in which nightmares for many come true. Hedonistic, rebellious and cut throat, someone somewhere will want to kill you just for being thinner and younger than them. In a more gruesome reality than in which famed science fiction spectacular Logan’s Run could muster, that to be over twenty is to be written off by the vogue society, demons will always come home to rule the roost.

Guilt And Blood.

If it is an admission you want,

the words of guilt, the declaration

of remorse and complex

self reproach, then you,

my friend,

haven’t been listening to a word I have said.

Then again why would you,

why would you even lip read,

or give me lip service,

my apology, if that is what you require,

is not for you, it is too my soul

for having allowed myself

to fall into your clutches in the first place,

to sit and be mentally abused

and raped by simpering

50FOOTWAVE, Bath White. E.P. Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

It is the feeling of the tsunami that washes over your heart and senses, the invisible one save for the notes of expression which feel like rivets being plunged into the greatest of ocean going tankers, the smash of heavy iron against the titanic shoulders of industrialised steel, in which the loud and unique hit you first.

The latest in a long line of mini album releases from 50FOOTWAVE, Bath White, is a lengthy dive at the heart of a crushing wave, not one born of destruction, but one in which the tidal wave is addictive, the sea is one that never forgets and the dynamic settle for the intimate sound of nature to aid them on their way.

Fables: Farewell. Graphic Novel Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Every story must come to an end, every tale must wag in the face of the reader one final time and heroes and villains alike must bid their own individual Farewell; some though live forever, they are as immortal as the ability to relay the tales either through spoken narrative or visual aid, the hero and villain must live in the ether ready to be seen again.

The Black Ill Favoured Fly.

The black ill favoured fly

is a perpetual nuisance

as it buzzes, dive bombs

and irritates me to the point

of wishing to cause harm

to the beast that spits

and tastes the sweat in the air

as I fumble for words in the semi

darkness, the gloom of soul

and thought. I pick up my

silver edged letter opener,

purchased from a Saturday market

in Greenwich and I wish I could find

the speed in which to take this

ill favoured black fly out

Elouise, Deep Water. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision 8.5/10

There is a whisper in the air, the sound of something exciting and eccentric, the electricity of a corrupted heart nestling in the ambience of a decadent groove and it is a wickedness that is amongst the very best of albums that will stick in the listener’s minds; the whisper of the unique and powerful always has that effect.

For Elouise, a collaboration of Los Angeles based musicians which include Rich Dembowski, John Chamberlin, Michelle Beauchesne, William Bongiovanni and Elouise Walker, their debut album Deep Water is a voyage of discovery, a trip into the fantastical and the damned and it is an expedition into the unknown in which to travel light and with great fondness of what you are about to experience.

The Musketeers, Death Of A Hero. Television Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

Cast: Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles, Alexandra Dowling, Ryan Gage, Tamla Kari, Matthew McNulty, Luke Pasqualino, Hugo Speer, Rupert Everett, Thalissa Teixeira, Lukas Juza, Andre Flynn, Jared Doreck, Tom Morely, Ben Whitrow.

The manipulation of a single moment in Time, the guise in which our last moments on Earth can cover and disguise every intention and possible misdeed that went before it, is as easy to fall into as the truly heroic and virtuously noble man to slip into the bear pit of a single mistake which undoes every honourable and moral act ever taken…manipulation of a single moment is always remembered by history in the final breath of the person and one that can signal the Death of a Hero.

Betrayal: The Crisis In The Catholic Church. Book Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

The investigative newspaper journalist is almost an extinct animal, hunted down by television and left to rot by a public who would rather arguably leave some things alone, if they don’t know about it then the world is safe, it is not a scary and rotten place in which to bring up their children.

The world though is teetering upon the edge of an abyss and it takes the calm and collected measure of newspaper journalists to cut through the Hollywood glitz that television offers to really get to the point of the investigation. The camera at times only adds to the sensationalism, the written word will always carry much more weight and respect.

Late Afternoon Text Message.

What was your message,

delivered by electronic device,

meant to achieve last night?

I know what it did to me

inside, to hear from you for the first

time in fifteen months,

and not like a friend who had been busy

with their lives, it happens, Time

gets away from us all,

nor did it place a sense of longing

to see you, to understand your loss

and own tragic demise;

all you did was piss me off, upset me,

cause pain in a heart that

The Sign Of Church Times.

It is the sign of the times

when the church on St. Andrews Road

displays not an encouraging word

on a billboard half hidden

by an instrument of Cosmic law,

the half blinding Sun and bedded down roots

of trees, seeking salvation in the quiet Earth,

but a for sale sign, proclaiming the new words

of profits…when a Church closes down,

even for heathens and dissenting voices

such as my own,

I feel the pain for the lost and lonely,

for now where do they go to sit
