The newspapers and media have hounded one man to his death and now they appear to want to find the next scapegoat, that man unfortunately seems to be the detective in charge of the case, Alec Hardy. For the people of Broadchurch, confidence in their police has hit rock bottom and for Alec Hardy his life seems to be spiraling downwards as his health issues are becoming too obvious for him to be an effective investigator.

Despite being a policeman of the highest impeccable order there are some things that do irritate and upset Christopher Foyle, having to deal with a high ranking Nazi in the care of MI5 would probably rank near the top of his list, just one below being made to look like an aged dinosaur who doesn’t embrace the new world by being lied to by his superiors.

As the Doctor’s obsession grows over the mystery of Clara Oswald, the audience is taken through relevant moments in the latest companion and her parents’ lives and it all boils down to chance. As with most things in life it is the everyday random happenings that can lead a person one way or another in time, with the Doctor around though those things are really never that simple and after all he sees, the Doctor states that she is impossible.

The lifeless body of one of the suspects in the murder of the young teenage boy is found near the same spot at the bottom of the cliffs and it is hard to ignore the witch hunt, both by the national press and the local townsfolk, the latest episode of Broadchurch.

With the erstwhile Christopher Foyle, perhaps one of the most reliable and honest detectives to have graced the television screens in over a decade, being at the beck and call of the shadowy world of MI5, it is no wonder that he finds himself having to stoop to a low level to get the information he needs in order to tie up, not just one small mystery that he would have relished in his Hasting days but seemingly an overabundance of inter-related murders, abduction and covertness that must be making his level-headed swim in the aptly titled episode of Foyle’s War, The Cage.

The Second World War maybe over, the Shadow of the Cold War to come may high in the minds of the officials at MI5 but for Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle the war never really ends. The war on crime isn’t allowed to finish for the honest and fiercely loyal former Hasting’s policeman, no matter how much he would like to or how much some television executives have tried to retire the programme.
