Isaac Newton: The last Magician, Television Review. B.B.C.2

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

For millions, Sir Isaac Newton is perhaps the most singular reason why humanity moved from the medieval world of myth, superstition and sometimes mind boggling ways of thinking by 21st century standards and into the way of enlightenment, to question what if rather than accepting the so called dogma rationale. In the B.B.C. 2’s Isaac Newton: The last Magician, the man is revealed to be more than the wrongly sum of his work in the Newton’s three Laws of Motion.

Despite being a policeman of the highest impeccable order there are some things that do irritate and upset Christopher Foyle, having to deal with a high ranking Nazi in the care of MI5 would probably rank near the top of his list, just one below being made to look like an aged dinosaur who doesn’t embrace the new world by being lied to by his superiors.

With the erstwhile Christopher Foyle, perhaps one of the most reliable and honest detectives to have graced the television screens in over a decade, being at the beck and call of the shadowy world of MI5, it is no wonder that he finds himself having to stoop to a low level to get the information he needs in order to tie up, not just one small mystery that he would have relished in his Hasting days but seemingly an overabundance of inter-related murders, abduction and covertness that must be making his level-headed swim in the aptly titled episode of Foyle’s War, The Cage.

Perspectives: The Mystery of Agatha Christie. Television Review. I.T.V.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

There cannot be anyone more attached to the world of Agatha Christie on screen than the actor David Suchet. His involvement with the Queen of British Crime Fiction stretches back over 25 years as the detective Hercule Poirot and from the walk, the moustache and his demeanour, he is every little bit the Belgian who turns up to solve some of Agatha Christie’s most enduring and incredible stories.
