Great Britain’s Women’s Hockey Team Lose Semi-Final To Argentina.

Originally published by L.S.Media. ugust 8th 2012.

The sound of the two national anthems rang out over the Riverbank Arena on a sultry evening in East London. The 27th meeting between Argentina and Great Britain was the much anticipated match of the day as the two sides vied for a place in the final of the women’s Olympic Hockey final.

Great Britain’s women’s team has never made an Olympic final; their best placing was third at the Barcelona Games of 1992. Argentina for their part has made an Olympic final but came undone against a very good Australian side in 2000. The game had all the early indications of being a classic game between the two sides.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

There are many places in which the soul may take you during the hours of dark in Liverpool. The abundance of theatres is only beaten by advantage that London has in its sheer size and with a venue to fit almost every occasion and almost every band that could ever hope to find its way to the city that defines culture in England. The night life is there for the taking. What happens during the day light hours when those who find solace in the brightly lit confines of the theatre or music venue find themselves in the heart of the city and in need of a different type of comfort, namely the pleasant surroundings of somewhere that offers good food and refreshment?

Transgender Icon And Fashion Model April Ashley Wows Audience At The Museum Of Liverpool.

As April Ashley sits down on the specially provided chair next to Radio Merseyside legendary presenter Roger Philips at the Museum of Liverpool, the audience that had made their way to the city specifically to see Ms. Ashley rose almost as one and gave a standing ovation that would normally be reserved for an actor or musician giving a rare solo performance to an adoring crowd.

To many in the audience and to thousands, if not millions round the world, April Ashley is a heroine, a heroine of the highest order, someone that without whom the dark ages, the misguided and in some cases repugnant behaviour of others towards transgendered issues, would have carried on perhaps well into the 21st Century.

Yorkshire Poet Simon Armitage Supplies Liverpool With Great Evening Of Entertainment.

Liverpool has more than its fair share of visiting musicians and theatre groups ready to entertain their genial hosts; sometimes there are those that are conspicuous by their absence but the prodigious home grown talent that runs through the very heart of Merseyside more than makes up for that. What is missing is the poets, the speakers of lines with no music attached in which to give the people of Liverpool their other fix, the well placed word in the right place that can topple Governments, bring the idiotic to their knees…or even just put a smile on a face and inspire the next breed of would be poets.

Great Britain’s Basketball Heroes Perform In Style.

The next two games would determine if Great Britain would take any part in the quarter finals of the men’s basketball at this year’s Paralympic games. Canada ware now virtually assured a place after their stunning victory over the Germans, who themselves should certainly still qualify despite the set-back.

Only Poland really stood in the way of Great Britain being in the second stage of the completion as the seeming whipping boys of the tournament Japan would not surely do the unbelievable and get points off a resurgent British Bulldogs team.

Malcolm McLaren, A Personal Eulogy.

The world of music mourned one of its more colourful and charismatic characters yesterday as the news broke that Malcolm McLaren had died. For those of us who were around during the time of the Sex Pistols, New York Dolls and those associated acts like the Clash, it came as a hell of a shock as the man seemed indestructible.

Innovate, dangerous to the establishment and completely and utterly charming are just some of the words I could use to describe this intelligent and outspoken man.

Big Finish Productions Celebrate 150 Doctor Who Audio Plays.

Originally published by L.S. Media. September 4th 2011.

For Doctor Who fans the last six years have been a cornucopia of story-telling, three Doctors, enemies by the bundle, including the welcome return of the Master, The Cybermen and of course the Doctor’s greatest enemy and the universes greatest threat The Daleks. These 21st Century episodes have become some of the most highly rated stories created for the long running B.B.C. T.V. series and it seems the programme has never been more popular.
