Table Top Racing (PS Vita), Game Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9 out of 10.

Table Top Racing is a car combat racing game available for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS Vita. The game has an excellent pedigree as Nick Burcombe; the head of the Liverpool based indie developer Playrise Digital launched his career by being part of the development team working on the original and iconic WipEout on PlayStation, which brings much needed experience to take the game onto another level of quality.

Shadow Warrior (PS4), Game Review.

Shadow Warrior is a first-person shooter game available from retail stores and for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The game is a re-make of a game that was originally released on May 13th 1997 and developed by the legendary 3D Realms which was clearly inspired in its direction by their previous smash hit Duke Nukem 3D having been released on January 29th 1996.

CastleStorm: Definitive Edition (PS4), Game Review.

CastleStorm is a 2D physics based tower defence game available for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. CastleStorm: Definitive Edition is an enhanced port of 2013’s PlayStation Vita and PS3 versions of the game and provides a twist to tower defence games by introducing the ability of offence as players are given the power to fight and attack an enemy just as much as the enemy is able to assail back; resulting in the old adgage that the best form of defence is offence.

Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut. (PS4) Game Review.

Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut is a psychological survival horror adventure game available for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The sub-title of the game is rather appropriate as this is an extended version of the cult indie game by Jasper Byrne, which was originally released in Europe on March 27th 2012 and America on April 23rd 2012 for the P.C., Mac and Linux with PS3 and Vita releases following on September 24th 2013.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (PS4), Game Review.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a third-person shooter game available from retail stores and for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. Plants vs. Zombies originated as a tower defence game released for Windows on May 5th 2009 before being ported to a range of platforms including PS3 and PS Vita. It must be appreciated that after two successful Plants vs. Zombies games; PopCap have attempted to spin the franchise off in a new direction as a third-person shooter, but is it a risk that has paid off?

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments (PS4), Game Review.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is a third-person and first-person detective adventure game available from retail stores and for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The game is based upon the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes who was created by the Scottish author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with the character evolving in his status ever since the original novel A Study in Scarlet was published in 1887 and The Sign of the Four in 1890 with serialisations and short stories following until the second set of stories came to a climax in 1927. Since the original incarnation of Sherlock Holmes there have been numerous theatre productions, television and film adaptations from across the world with videogames being another popular form of adaptation.

Game Review: FIFA 15 (PS4).

FIFA 15 is a sports simulation football game available from retail stores and for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The FIFA series started over twenty years ago when FIFA International Soccer was released in December 1993 for retro platforms such as the 3DO, SNES, Sega Mega Drive, Game Boy, Amiga and many more platforms with each iteration  ever since progressing into new realms of realism, graphical quality and atmosphere, while spanning multiple generations of consoles. The ultimate question upon the release of FIFA 15 must be how substantially it can build upon the previous game as FIFA 15 is only the second new-gen release within the FIFA series.

Destiny (PS4), Game Review.

Destiny is a hybrid of an open world first-person shooter and role playing game in an online connected world available from retail stores and for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The new release naturally had a lot of high expectations with it being a partnership between the publisher Activision who own the behemoth first-person shooter franchise Call of Duty and developed by Bungie who was responsible for the success of Halo. However, can Destiny live up to such a high level of anticipation from all of the publicity it has generated over the last year and a half since the big reveal on February 17th 2013 via the video documentary titled Pathways Out of Darkness: A Destiny ViDoc and at the reveal of the PlayStation 4 at PlayStation Meeting on February 20th 2013 which has resulted in it becoming the most pre-ordered new franchise to date in the history of videogames?

Battlefield 4 ‘The Fall’ Patch. Game Review.

The fall patch is finally here as promised by DICE studios. This fall patch will consist of fixes to the game that will improve gameplay and cause less stress for players when immersing themselves into the action.

In this patch there have been a number of fixes been made to the game that many players have asked for, which include: game mode changes to rush, obliteration, capture the flag and carrier assault. This will include all ‘Vanilla maps’ in the game except Dawnbreaker. This will move many military communications or M-COMS for short which are the main objective of the game mode on the map, so it will give teams a chance instead of just one team on one map. Also the map zavod 311’s third M-COM site inside the two factory’s M-COM b will be moved so that it does not trigger the levolution feature on the map till someone sets the timer themselves.

That Trivia Game is a quiz game available for download from the PlayStation Store for the PS4. The game is the first quiz game to release for PS4 and with it being a quiz game it will naturally receive comparisons to the Buzz Quiz games that released exclusively on PS3 and PSP, so the question must be asked of how it stacks up in comparison to the Buzz Quiz games.
