Dan Patlansky: Movin’ On. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

The urge to walk out, to move on, is arguably innate within us all. We cannot solve every problem with a solution that will keep all affected happy, we cannot inspire the masses with just a word of comfort, we will never find a way to truly compel them all to rebel with a stirring speech, and for those who are gifted to deliver such an emotional response, the urge to walk away must be overwhelming; fearing for the world and its wife as they find themselves Movin’ On.

A journey of discovery, but one that feeds on the inspiration of another of the greats, the phenomenal Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mr. Patlansky builds on the epic nature of his playing and performance and delivers the reason why we should never give way, never retire into the background, and certainly never carry the burden of feeling that you have allowed your voice to be ignored, for if you can give the majority a reason, then in time, the only moving on will be those whose life is but a reflection of dark impulse.

Through tracks such as Who I Am, One With Fire, Baby’s Packin’ Heat, the superb Humbled and Free Wheelin’, and the sensational and epic title track Movin’ On, Dan Patlansky illuminates the stage before him and burns the atmosphere with a sublime and hot take of music that is pure Patlansky, and inspired groove of Blues.

From the moment the opener of Red Velvet Suit opens up, what is fabulously evident is that Movin’ On is a delivery of passion by an artist who can stand aloft and gather the masses, but also find himself surrounded on all sides as one of them and be immersed by the warmth of understanding.

Once more Dan Patlansky bestows upon the listener a gift, the contribution of a mind which refuses to leave the arena of humanity, who continues to inspire in the way Stevie Ray Vaughn was stirred by the great Jimi Hendrix…it seems that passion and greatness are handed down like a vintage heirloom, always pushing to make sure the listener’s never give up, never think of Movin’ On.
