Track Dogs, Where To Now? Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Sleeping dogs don’t lie, they only sing the truth and play music that is genuine and full of precision.

If sleeping dogs don’t lie, then Track Dogs are the ones who are constantly pushing the boundaries, refusing to seek rest upon any laurels put before them, and instead sets them to eagerly chase the tail of music at their immense disposal, and it is with a sense of vigorous self-belief that the band of musical brothers based in Madrid, find they can ask that most pertinent of questions put before any band; Where To Now? and arrive at the most auspicious of answers, anywhere they please, for the destination in this case is one of exactness, one of searing great tunes, and one to which the purpose and target of the journey’s end is actually just another stop on the road to enlightenment.

Where to now, a circumstance of condition, for our station is one where we depart and alight at will, where the word itself is one steeped in a dogma of location, for where we are in the end does not matter, it is what we do when we get there which defines us, and in an era of disruption, in a time when we have found our situation changed, altered by design, to still be able to control and release a love defined by artistic intent, is to feel the warmth of arrival, to know what is on the other side of the door when you open it is the belief that has survived and thrived.

Across tracks such as My Love Feels Real, Meet Me In The Middle, Donna Lola, less Than Equal, Empty Tracks, Every Dog’s Day, Last Lick Of Light, and a sensational cover of James Taylor’s Carolina In My Mind, Track Dogs have unveiled the map of contentment, calculated the distance to enjoyment, and found that in the end sincerity and fulfilment are always found in the whereabouts and where ever you want it to be; all that is needed is the ability to push past what stifles the creativity, what stops you from being happy.

An album clearly involved with rejoicing in as much optimism as possible, but also understanding that some will require the helping hand of finding the best route to swipe away the melancholy of other’s drama that has caught them unawares. For Track Dogs, Where To Now? is where they please, for they are the one with mastery of the intention and their goals.

Track Dogs release Where To Now? on March 18th via Mondegreen Records.
