Tiger Saw & The Reasons Why, Wet & Unlucky. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

A relationship is only as strong as the good will, truth and teamwork required to keep it on the right track, there is no room for cynicism, no area set aside for controlling interests, you are either in the association for the benefit of all parties concerned, and that of those you are hoping to edify with the merging sound of two separate entities, or you are playing games, pushing one of the two halves into the pouring rain and insisting that they are dry, that they are mistaken if they feel that they are the ones getting Wet & Unlucky.

The collaboration between the band Tiger Saw and The Reasons Why is one of fortuitous timing given the moment to explore their own personal music beliefs and blend them together in a way that takes them from the passion of the mover and shaker to the realm of the occasion, the space that few artists can penetrate the outer skin of cooperation of without falling victim to the ego and the unexpected demand for more.

Like a riveting suspense novel, Wet & Unlucky encompasses the delicate reveal of characters in ways that keep the onlooker or listener absorbed and fascinated for the way that they mould and reshape during the performance. In music such attraction depends squarely on the relationship between instrument, musician, and the keen aural observation of the one attracted to the sound being played, but it also hangs in the realm of the imagination, and if it cannot fly there, if it cannot install the beauty and belief it expects, then the suspense of what is to come turns sour.

Thankfully, and with sheer endeavour running through the artists’ collaboration and integrity being paramount, tracks such as The Moon Last Night Is Gone Today, I’m A Youtube Series, You’re Prestige TV, the excellent A Civil War On A Saturday Night, Watching Reruns Of Our Love and We’ll Always Have The Night, align superbly, the night sky, so full of charm and mystery, is the foundation for the way the listener can grasp the surge of belief that comes with this alliance, for what may appear dark and unforgiving territory for some, is but the promise of a deep and meaningful exploration, the examination of the search of new life; and in Wet & Unlucky that life comes from the beating hearts of two bands forged in the excitement of one fused soul.

A magnificent moment, one not of luck but of universally acknowledged intervention, a collaboration that was meant to be, and which is pushed to its most obvious, passionate, conclusion.

Tiger Saw & The Reasons Why will release Wet & Unlucky on July 23rd via Epifo Music.
