Children’s Classic The Cat In The Hat Visits The Playhouse For Five Nights Of Mayhem This February.

A production of Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat will open the 2019 season at the Playhouse from 12th-16th February to kick start a busy season of family shows this Spring.

Based on the much-loved book that has captivated generations of readers, The Cat in the Hat is filled with feline frivolity. With acrobatic accomplices Thing 1 and Thing 2, riotous rhymes, infectious humour and spectacular circus, this family production is set to delight young and old alike.

The production is brought to the Playhouse by Curve Leicester and Rose Theatre Kingston, whose productions of George’s Marvellous Medicine, The Twits and The Witches have visited Liverpool to great acclaim.

Created in association with the National Centre for Circus Arts, a cast of actors and acrobats perform Dr Seuss’ madcap and magnificent tale in a show filled with circus stunts and live music.

Playing the role of the Cat is actor Nana Amoo-Gottfried. He is joined by actor and opera singer Charley Magalit as the fearful Fish. Acrobats Celia Francis and Robert Penny play the energetic roles of Thing 1 and 2, with Sam Angell and Melissa Lowe completing the casting to play the Boy and Sally.

Chris Stafford, Leicester Curve chief executive and Nikolai Foster, artistic director said, “Last year we had a fantastic time in Liverpool with our Made at Curve and Rose Theatre Kingston co-production of George’s Marvellous Medicine and we’re positively purring with pride to return this year with another classic children’s tale, Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat.

This cat-tastic extravaganza is filled to the brim with astonishing acrobatics, thanks to our association with the team at the National Centre for Circus Arts, and enchanting rhymes brought to life on stage by our extraordinary cast. Children and families here in Leicester have already been delighted by performances over Christmas and now we can’t wait for everyone in Liverpool to enjoy this magical piece of theatre.”

The Cat in the Hat is suitable for children aged 4+ and is on at the Playhouse for seven performances. Tickets are available by calling Box Office on 0151 709 4776 or at www.everymanplayhouse.com/whats-on.
