On my sixteenth birthday my father erected a fourteen-foot crucifix in our living room…”

In the darkest corner of his dreams, Michael remembers. He remembers televisions. He remembers chickens. He remembers Michelle. But most of all, he remembers Debris.

YEP (Young Everyman Playhouse) in association with new media collective. Despite the Monkey use cutting-edge 3D sound and an original score to immerse you into award winning writer Dennis Kelly’s uncompromising debut play Debris. A harrowing journey into the memories that haunt us and the moments that define us, Debris plunges you into a fever dream unlike any other. Featuring a stunning original score, and reality-bending Binaural soundscapes, Debris is not just a show. it’s an experience.

What is Binaural?

Binaural audio requires the audience to wear headphones throughout the performance. This allows us to manipulate and control where and how things are heard by those in attendance, hijacking their senses to immerse them in the world of the play.

We are redefining the relationship between the performer and the audience with a distinct sensory experience that pushes new boundaries for the Everyman and Playhouse.

Despite the Monkey are a new media collective specialising in hi-tech immersive performance and are made up of four graduates of various disciplines from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.

They are joined by two dynamic performers for their explosive new take on Dennis Kelly’s ferocious Debris.
