Emilio Pinchi, Holiday. E.P. Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

The art of melancholy is sadly underrated, it finds itself being treated as a state of unhappiness, to the cynical it is a passion for the miserable, a self-indulgent exercise which the unfounded optimistic cannot fathom and finds suspicious; like those who strive for years to have the Holiday of their dreams, the jealous will always sneer and beat their heads with regarded sage thought.

The art of melancholy is not a beast to be sneered at, neither is it to be found browsing in the feeling of discontent or the miserable, it is a wisdom that is understanding of your life, your place in the Universe, and a Muse that strokes the heart of creative observation; an observation that Emilio Pinchi has cornered and made his own, a muse that reflects an authentic look at nostalgia, the mundane and the ordinary, and through his much-admired versatility and ability, that ordinary is framed as special, as distinctive and cool.

We all deserve a Holiday like the one that Emilio provides across the four strong song E.P. The persuasion of his voice is like a soft wave lapping at your feet, playful, tingling with anticipation, mindful of the approaching storm and tsunami of expression that is bound to come as the words flow over you and the music sweeps you off your feet.

We all live in the ordinary, nobody is truly a master of the extraordinary times, it is up to each one of us to make sure that the ordinary is not seen in the eyes of others as dull, worth squabbling over, we must allow life to be treated as ours, not damned in the hands of the lunatics who say they seek revolution, but whose only true aim is to burn and riot; true revolution comes from belief, not through decay.

Across the songs Coffee, This Machine, White Wine Water Bottle and the E.P title track, Holiday, Emilio Pinchi delivers a secluded spot, a haven of tranquility with an on-site view of calm, of perspective, a Holiday that you cannot feel at home with. The natural order resumed, Emilio Pinchi offers a sense of memory, of melancholic charm and openness.

Emilio Pinchi releases Holiday through Klee Music on November 9th. Emilio Pinchi will be performing at 81 Renshaw Street in Liverpool on November 13th. Support will be from White Little Lies and Lydiah.
