The Last Waltz Plays This November As Seafoam Green Return To Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall.

After two years of sell out shows in the Philharmonic’s Music Room, – Seafoam Green’s Last Waltz – returns to the Philharmonic, this time in the iconic Hall. With special guests soon to be announced, join Seafoam Green and friends playing songs from one of the most influential evenings in music history.

On 25th November 1976, at the Hinterland Ballroom in San Francisco, “The Band” performed their last ever concert after 16 years on the road. On that fateful night they were joined by some “friends” – Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, Dr. John, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris & Joni Mitchell to name but a few. The event was filmed by director Martin Scorsese and made into a documentary, released in 1978 and has been hailed one of the greatest concert films ever produced.

Over 40 years later, a collective of some of Liverpool’s finest musicians came together to celebrate its influence and its impact. The night was such a success that two nights were booked for 2017, and it’s happening all again, this time in the Philharmonic Hall’s main room in association with Mellowtone Records.

After years of solo tours, bad record deals and the odd single means Dave O’ Grady spent the last 15 years practicing his craft as an apprentice songwriter.  The Psych/Folk outfit fronted by the Dublin-born songwriter and produced by Rich Robinson was a result of a chance meeting during studio recordings in Nashville, 2011, and followed by a couple U.S. and European tours, Dave and Rich began writing in California. The pair penned a number of songs together in the hills of Topanga, which naturally came to be the debut Seafoam Green album; Topanga Mansion. Wicklow born Muireann was originally brought in as a session vocalist to demo some ideas, but quickly became a force within the ensemble.

The first announced guest for this year’s show is Phil Campbell, singer with Scottish blues-rockers The Temperance Movement, replete with a 1970’s rock star sensibility, and a “rousing, scorching vocal”.  More to be announced soon.

Tickets for the performance on Friday 16th November are on sale now from the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Box office.
