This Year’s DaDa Fest At The Everyman Theatre To Showcase Themes On Freedom, Barriers And Respect.

This year’s Young DaDaFest will take place at the Everyman on Thursday 25th June at 6pm. The showcase aims to encourage and empower disabled and deaf young people through creativity. This year’s event will include over 100 young people in a showcase featuring dance, music and performance led by disabled and deaf young people from Merseyside.

Young DaDaFest develops young disabled artists by giving them a platform to perform in front of a large audience. The performers are aged between 12 to 25 and disabled, deaf or living with a long term illness or condition. Some of the groups will also be performing alongside actors from the theatre’s Young Everyman Playhouse.

The themes of this year’s Young DaDaFest are Freedom, Barriers and Respect with the young people creating original work in based on these themes.

A rousing event, Young DaDaFest will include a devised piece of acting and movement from Redbridge Dance Club, poetry, a performance by Random Acts of Wildness Disability (RAWD), signing from Sandfield Park Sound and Vision, the band Arden Rockers will play and a Beatbox orchestra throughout the night by Beat Box Bunch.

Ruth Gould, DaDaFest Artistic Director, said, “Young DaDaFest continues to be the highlight of the year for so many involved with DaDaFest. We are thrilled that it continues to grow both in quality and excellence, impacting people to enjoy new and compelling arts experiences. The leadership and commitment the young people demonstrate in making this happen, is a joy to behold. I am immensely proud of their hard work and all of their achievements, and wholeheartedly congratulate them on producing once again another stunning artistic showcase.”

It is the second time the annual event has been held at the Everyman, with the new theatre’s accessibility able support the diverse needs of the groups involved. This accessibility also extends to the audience attending with the showcase BSL interpreted and Audio Described.
