Summer Exhibition Brings Stunning Collection Of Liverpool Paintings To St. George’s Hall.

A major retrospective exhibition of the work of Liverpool artist, Frank Green, will be held at Liverpool’s St George’s Hall this summer. The exhibition will be open to the public every day from Saturday 4th July – Monday 31st August.

Following on from the hugely successful Frank Green and the Welsh Builders exhibition at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw in North Wales earlier this year, in which the Welsh builders who contributed to the architectural wealth of Liverpool were celebrated. Frank is now thrilled to be one of the first artists to have his work displayed at the new galleries at St George’s Hall.

Artist Frank Green said: “It is a great honour to be invited as one of the first artists to exhibit at the newly-renovated gallery spaces in St George’s Hall. These beautiful galleries provide the perfect setting to showcase the great architecture of our city which is depicted in my work.

Frank Green has been drawing and painting Liverpool cityscapes since he was a student at Liverpool College of Art, Hope Street, in the 1960s; and whilst the exhibition will focus, for the most part, on pictures of Liverpool (streets, churches, pubs and city views), there will be a selection of rarely-seen fine sepia drawings of Malta, and watercolours of France, Italy and Wales.

Visitors can expect to see a vast body of work attesting to Frank’s great fondness for the city of Liverpool, its people and architecture; and will feature the artist’s work in watercolour, oil, pastel, conté crayon, pencil, and pen and ink across the 6 new galleries in the basement of St George’s Hall.

Alan Smith, General Manager at St George’s Hall, said: “St George’s Hall is delighted to host a large scale retrospective of the work of Liverpool’s long standing artist Frank Green. Most people will be instantly familiar with Frank’s work even if they have never met him. Frank has dedicated years painting the local familiar scenes of Liverpool and the region, his work containing distinctive characteristics. Frank’s work is so familiar that Liverpool can rightly boast it has its very own Lowry in its midst
