In Election Year, Award-Winning Young Everyman Playhouse Give A Voice To Their Generation In New Political Drama.

Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) return to the Everyman stage this spring with a new play focussed on our political system, how their voice can be heard and the political revolution behind the Millennial generation. Recently named Theatre School of the Year by The Stage, YEP continue to build on their success with this timely play ahead of the general election. Until They Kick Us Out will be at the Everyman from Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th February.

YEP are back in full force following the success of The Grid and Alice in Wonderland, showcasing the combined talent of different strands and including a cast of 35 young actors. The play has been entirely devised by the acting company based on research and their own experiences of politics.

Until They Kick Us Out is a vibrant and relevant piece devised to take a bold and original look at the issues facing young people today, while encouraging audiences to make a change. With 1 million young people not yet registered to vote, is it too late to engage an entire generation in YEP’s revolution?

The play touches on issues such as war, feminism, bullying, education and employment which the YEP members feel have been marginalised in the political debate by immigration, devolution and the political point scoring from the country’s major parties.

YEP member Mark Powell said: “Politics is something completely relevant to all of us and with the general election just around the corner, we believe it’s time to show Liverpool audiences exactly what we think.”

YEP member Danny Fitzgerald added: “Working on Until They Kick Out has stretched my devising skills and pushed my use of physicality for different characters to the extreme!”

Matt Rutter, Director of YEP, said: “We started talking about politics and about politicians and the fact that young people don’t feel comfortable voting for anyone and how their voice was been marginalised even though they form a significantly large proportion of the voting population. We wanted to create a show that could inspire the younger generation to take action, to vote and to make noise until they are heard.”

Until They Kick Us Out utilises YEP’s unique multi-disciplinary approach with Young Technicians supporting the play and Young Communicators creating the marketing. It is produced by Bernie Whittle and Martin Poile, graduates of the YEP Producers programme and Young Director Sam Erskine is assistant director.

Tickets for Until They Kick Us Out are priced at £5/£7. Tickets are available from the Everyman Theatre Box office, by telephone on 0151 709 4776 or online at www.everymanplayhouse.com.  There is one matinee performance on Saturday 28th February at 2.00pm.
