It is tempting at times to believe Government rather than Time and fate deal the cruellest hands when it comes to the way the ordinary person is dealt as if they have no right to expect decency or even just a quiet unassuming life, that the conspiracy of action is just that, kick a person when they are down and with that tough love they will raise themselves out of the situation they have been placed in, as if by magic, their lives will be restored, that growth and strength comes from being treated abysmally.

The accusation of the redundant and superfluous has long been strewn across the floor of films that have failed to keep the momentum going in terms of adventure and the single continuous thread which sees the same returning characters always at the heart of the story; it is an allegation that in many cases is unfounded, and yet for some the denunciation is deserved, fully and without concern.

A walk through the woods was perhaps not an issue for travel writer Bill Bryson as he made his way through the Appalachian mountain range, but for the unwary, for the party who go in search of the intrepid when they are not suited to the conditions or the sense of loneliness that comes with such a journey, the woods, the forest, can hold quite a mystical barrier over their well being.

For all the bright lights ever offered Humanity of a future world, it somehow is never as intriguing a prospect to write about a society that has a dystopian angle to it.

If you want a franchise done properly, bring back the guy who made it a commercial and critical success in the first place. Prometheus does exactly that and sees the Sci-Fi/Horror film reunited with Ridley Scott, the man who scared cinema goers back in 1979 with Alien, and the result is stunning.
