Paloma Faith, Infinite Things. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

In a period of time which is dictated by a constant nagging doubt, in which the best laid plans of mice and the boundless enthusiasm and character of many has been pushed aside in a limited, confined, waking vision, to be able to partake in someone’s dream of completion is to revel in the majesty of human endeavour. Whilst some might argue that writers and musicians can still hold on to their work compared to others in society, they still need to find inspiration in the outside world and the Infinite Things that bring forth concepts and faith together.

It is with the ferocity of a warrior’s heart to which we acknowledge that the world is not right, that it has always had its priorities wrong and the sense of balance that we are urged to seek to uphold the so called natural order, is nothing but a misaligned scale, weighted in the favour of the few, prejudiced by decisions taken long before we even had the chance to understand.

Life, if you’re fortunate, is made of many facets of ingenuity and peace, as well as the insanity that prevails through being a fully paid up member of the Human Race. Music though surely is the most over-riding of all emotions to get tangled up in and to be able to have running through your mind, after all, even in the solitude of an arid desert exists music and poetry as the sands shift with the wind.

The Christmas schedule is such that it falls deeply into the realms of asking the viewer to remember others and the tireless work they do, it is a noble act but one in which many will find themselves just having on in the background in between munching on the last mince pie or playing a game with the children.

There should be no doubting the strength of the appeal of Paloma Faith. Like Holland’s Caro Emerald, Paloma Faith crosses the borders between the pop heart and the jazz soul with lots of room for the exuberance of discovery, that tingle you feel run up your spine as she starts to sing and the music that follows her every move, ever sanguine note is like a coiled cobra ready to strike out and bite you pleasantly till you submit to her whim.

There are some artists that just radiate so much style and panache that their every move is watched with a type of gleeful appreciation. Some lack the real high of sublime talent to see the style through to its logical conclusion. This is not something that can ever be aimed in the direction of Paloma Faith, for style read elegance, talent, she has by the bucket load and grace is something that seems to come naturally to her.

Paloma Faith To Grace Liverpool Empire Theatre.

Paloma Faith has announced a series of U.K. tour dates for 2013 and will perform at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on 4th June 2013. Paloma’s incredible second album Fall To Grace reached the number 2 spot in the U.K. charts when it was released in May and was only beaten to the coveted number one spot by Gary Barlow’s Diamond Jubilee record by just 5,000 copies.

Liverpool Students Media called Fall To Grace, “A gem of an album.” and the music that appears throughout is an incredible breath of fresh air. Certainly a must see artist for the coming year, one of the great and unique talents of our time.

Paloma Faith has the uncanny knack of making even the most uplifting music appear dull in comparison to her stunning voice and lyrics that scream genuine and absolute desire to be taken seriously as one of the leaders of everything anti-pop.
