The Playhouse Studio is set to transport audiences to apartheid-era South Africa with Sizwe Banzi is Dead, a thrilling tale of identity and freedom. Directed by former Everyman and Playhouse Director in Residence Matthew Xia, this momentous, play comes to the Studio following a sell-out run at London’s Young Vic from Tuesday 10th to Saturday 14th June.

Playhouse Studio Spring/Summer Season Announced With Two More Big Stories On An Intimate Scale.

The ever-popular Playhouse Studio will play host to two productions this spring as the intimate space in the Playhouse rafters continues to provide big stories on a small scale. Former Everyman and Playhouse director-in-residence Matthew Xia is back with a production of Sizwe Banzi is Dead from the 10th to the 14th June, while Mogadishu writer Vivienne Franzmann’s Pests comes directly to the Studio following its première at Manchester Royal Exchange at 28th to 31st May.

This autumn the Everyman and Playhouse continue their commitment to nurture new talent by presenting another debut play in the Playhouse Studio. Scrappers, a funny and tender comedy which tells the story of a small group of scrap merchants. Written by Daniel Matthew and directed by Matthew Xia, the cast features David Judge, John McGrellis, Ged McKenna and Molly Taylor and will be staged in the intimate ‘upstairs’ space from Thursday 24th October to Saturday 16th November.
