Little Sparrow, Just 3. E.P. Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

The power of 3, a number that cannot be divided by the whole, it is a symbol of strength, of divinity and legend, the three-fold person to which we all see in the long mirrors that adorned tables of old and into each face there were the reflections of glory, of inspiration and of beauty; Just 3, there is no need to crowd the room with more, there can be no greater affection bestowed.

It is natural to miss someone, to let time go past in such a manner that you find the song, that special reason you were drawn to them as a human being in the first place, takes upon itself to be treated like a fine shroud, delicate and interwoven with the days and weeks of since last you saw them, woven with gold silk, the voice that would have captured the soul of Homer’s Odysseus, still resonating around the concert venues of Liverpool and beyond.

Little Sparrow, Tender. Single Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

If we are fortunate in life then we will have experienced love as both the person adored and the one who has feels their heart pound faster when near the person who makes them special; if we prosperous in love then we have been so close to a family member that to be without them is the hardest emotion to bare.

We know we can rely on them just for a kind word when the going gets tough, we can give them a hug without seeking permission, even when the moment isn’t right, we can miss a smile, the smell, the look, the worn out jumper they used to wear as a second skin, we miss them because our Tender hearts are only human.

Time has been described as many things, a snarling beast which needs to be tamed, perhaps even hunted down and taught a lesson or two, the great leveller in which all humanity is judged by its actions or even perhaps a companion, a trusted ally in which the truth of your life is carried. Time though can also be brutally obstinate, it can make visits to a venue in your city from a very talented singer/songwriter seem as though Ice Ages come and go with quicker frequency.

Although some artists grow on you over time, there is an argument for the thought that your first opinion of them is normally the one that is correct. With life becoming far too fast to keep up at times before the next trend or even whim, the next vogue act or person in favour on television. Sometimes you have to make a stand, draw a long line around yourself and say, bear with me as I really want to savour this thanks and in Little Sparrow, the line demands to painted over in several coats of luminous yellow paints and a few traffic stops signs flashing stop for good measure.

Some creatures are more observant than others, be they slight or minute, what they see and reflect upon should still be taken as evidence of their existence and their right to require a voice that should be heard.

The journey through life is full of these voices and in Little Sparrow, music lovers have the chance to fully embrace someone whose observations and musical interpretations are amongst the finest you are likely to hear. The joyful sadness, the stirring, inspirational notes that Little Sparrow brings to her songs is akin to the fruitful day time walk through the woods closest to your home and discovering the world as it should be, bountiful, full of meaning and an exercise in letting go of the despondency which growls and gnaws at the flesh.
