Despite the often-overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Marvel does not have it all their own way when it comes to producing films and television fantasy and superhero comic book serials that capture the imagination of the viewers, even in a world where they have become the dominant force, they are arguably pushed by the appearance of the unexpected, the one series that rivals all of theirs; and in the case of Peacemaker, it is one that is absolutely and adorably near perfect.

Playing With Fire. Film Review.

You can create great drama out of a crisis, you can get the point across of how vital the emergency services are in an insightful way, and you can also give the audience pleasure in seeing how brave and dedicated people react to moments that are away from the front line, the off duty moments, the private instances in which the guard is allowed to briefly be put down, yet to make a full feature comedy, one that has three great supporting actors to whom the genre is engrained, widely misses the mark of what should pass for idea, the presence of the comedic style.

You cannot blame a film studio for keeping a franchise going when it remarkably continues to have fans clamouring, almost chomping at the bit to revel in its storylines and desiring to learn more about the possibilities of other worlds. You cannot fault business for delivering what the public wants, it is when the film studio brings to the screen the unexpected that is when you have to praise them for their sense of direction, for the understanding that when you have a formula that works, you don’t let it fade, you don’t let it become stale.

Think of all the times you have been somewhere and you have felt the excruciating wrench in your stomach which says, you made a wrong choice bud, you messed up pretty good, and the final demand of, well perhaps it cannot get any worse. There have been many moments of those in cinema, there will be a plethora, a veritable feast of cringe more in the big screen’s future but few arguably will surely be seen in the light of day, be buffeted the cold wind of slapped foreheads, than the intensely unlikeable Blockers.
