Hayseed Dixie are an example to how tribute bands should be. What’s the point in seeing or hearing a covers group if they sound the same as the original? The gentlemen from Hayseed Dixie give a fantastic yet unusual twist to rock n roll, as distorted guitar solos are replaced by a banjo and acoustic guitars.

The Jokers, bringing back classic rock to the masses, as sure and cool as they can and aided by the fact that vocalist Wayne Parry has a unique voice suited to old style rock n roll which is often missed in this generation of music; coupled with a classic guitar solos, rhythm bass and brilliant drum beats makes the band stand out from others of their kind.
Biting nails down to the quick,
the slow reveal of blood that hunts
down the clear skin and slowly
congeals and revels
in the sting of pain, sharp
and enticing, finger sucked
but the will
to place it in salt, the desire to increase
the medicine and the healing
overwhelming.
Too old to bite my nails
but it gives the nerves
something to chew on, to
let the rage and unquestionable tension
gorge itself and release the strain,
the simplest of self harm

When a band comes from out of the late spring warmth, the haze of the sun stretching deep into the bones and the fabric of a city that unquestionably is the finest in the world for its musical appreciation and welcoming stance to outside acts, and is able to grab you by the shoulders and dares you, challenges you, to look away for the entire time they are on stage and does so with complete trust in your sense of perspective, then you know just what a great group you have stumbled upon.

The Lake District is arguably one of the great and unspoilt places within the whole of the U.K., alongside Dartmoor, the areas of Snowdonia, the lochs of Scotland and the banks of the furthermost reaches of The Mersey. The Lake District revels in its beauty, is not ashamed of its splendour and like a grand woman of any age, celebrates in its attractive qualities and injects that appreciation into anyone who has a heart that cannot contain the words in which to espouse or promote.

The back stage at The Cavern, the one most associate with a time that never truly existed and the one in which the full warmth of the International Pop Overthrow has had many bands open up the proceedings on it in the last 14 years but perhaps none so much as enjoyable as the bright sparks and lasting flames put out into the Liverpool night as 2am Turn Around managed as they kicked of the 2016 International Pop Overthrow extravaganza with charm and beautiful harmony.

the fixer extraordinaire
to whom God, when she was in
the tightest of fixes, called upon
with a certain amount of pleasure
down the end of a tightly wrapped
phone, the old fashioned type
with the plastic curly cord,
still used just in case
she had to resort to throttling
the life out of someone, can hardly do
that with a smart phone after all;

To be trapped in your own past, to never have another shot at redemption or glory, is to understand that Time can be a cruel mistress, that it is nothing but a vindictive and merciless entity that grins at those who let themselves be dragged down by the ankles and to whom accepting their finish brings it glee. To those who are spurred on, to those who live to Fight Another Day, Time is nothing more than a scurrilous child whose mewling cries are nothing but treasure to the ears.

Whatever the Reason you do something, whatever the motive or even what you hope will be the end goal, if it is not done with sincerity of spirit or a joy in your heart then the result will be one of unremitting despair, of a hunger that remains unsatisfied. The reason for doing anything must be one of change, whether personal or spiritual, regardless of whether it is for the greater good or to take down society in a thousand voiceless deeds, change and reason must go hand in hand and for Selah Sue, the Reason is more than good enough and full of entertaining expression.
The family motto suits me fine
