Mollie Marriott, Truth Is A Wolf. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

There are some artists who give off the impression that they are the epitome of the wolf, an easy guise to adopt in a world which seeks out the characteristics of such an animal, mean, moody and magnificent, loyal and one that will stop at nothing till the quarry has been tracked down and exhausted. We celebrate such attributes because they are the rock staple, the never say quit attitude, the song they sing is both terrifying and beautiful; sometimes though we listen to the wrong song and we find that the wolf we have embraced is actually covered in wool,

Cary Balsano, Horizon. Single Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

We are often too concerned with looking at the lives of others, of commenting on their situation, the way they act in a given moment, their dress sense, their beliefs and we make fun of them, we say we are giving them advice, when all we are doing is looking at the steps in front of us and not liking our own perceived path. To hold their hand and not comment on their lives is improve our own vision; that you can both look to the Horizon and witness that it is a truth worth clinging to.

The Monster In The Water.

There is no shark on the freeway,

yet there is a monster lurking,

under the depth, just always

out of sight till it rears its head

and its jaws come crashing down on

your torso,

you’re tore so

you believe all the lies

and it is not helpful;

for the beast under the water

picks us off one by one,

it glories in its belief,

the despicable dogma,

this is the monster under the rising water

and as we drown, we cling

Lotte Kestner, Off White. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

Nothing is truly pure, nothing is as lily white as people think, there is always a trace or a tint of impurity in even the most honest of actions and the simplest of deeds; for in the Off White comes truth and sanctuary, the harbour safe from invasion because it is more demanding to storm than those naturally guarded and tough to break down.

Logan Lucky. Film Review.

Cast: Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Daniel Craig, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Seth MacFarlane, Katherine Waterson, John Eyez, Dwight Yoakum, Jeff Gordan, Sebastian Stan, Farrah Mackenzie, Rebecca Koon, Charles Halford, David Denman, Jim O’ Heir, Jack Quaid, Brian Gleeson.

It feels awkward to pull upon a thread which involves Channing Tatum, an actor who can spellbind an audience as Burt Gurney in Hail, Ceasar!, and show absolute aloofness and brilliant cinematic reserve when required in Foxcatcher, and yet to whom will willingly fall back to alleged type on films such as Magic Mike, Jupiter Ascending and White House Down.

Bitter Flies.

I used to know every word

to all the songs

that I loved,

now

there are just too many,

they flutter like butterflies

and when I try to hold one

in my hand,

they hover

just out of reach, not wishing

to land on my palm

or feel my fingers stroke their fine wings

and restore memories, of times

spent with you.

They believe

they are sparing me from despair,

the chance to howl, to be

in pain and live in bliss,

He Gave Me His Drumsticks.

The notch marks and splinters give it away,

another symbolic nick, a gash

in the rhythm and the hit me

in time with the cow bell,

the drummer looking down,

a single gestured tapping

and the guitar goes silent,

only the hum of the audience

joins in the anticipation

of the beat, suddenly rising

Hell is unleashed and the drumsticks

crash though arteries, a legion of sweat

ready to pounce and scratch

at the bleeding eyes of those in love.

The heat is blinding, Buddy Rich intense,

It doesn’t have to be big to be clever, it doesn’t require the sense of razzmatazz, the three ringed circus, over blown sense of production or the hype to be the best; all anything needs to be to stick in the mind of the viewer of art, of sport, of life, is to be honest and forgiving, the sense of knowing that the time on stage is the most important feeling and to give it all in the pursuit of natural, beguiling magic.
