We may not have worn a sling in our youth, we possibly never had the misfortune to wear a cast on our leg, been mobile thanks to the crutches, or spent time in hospital thanks to the misery of accident that left us in pain and emotionally drained and vulnerable, but we are all carriers of the Font Of Human Fractures, we are all capable of writing words that can hurt, that damage and cause cracks to appear in even the most robust of relationships, that the typeface we use betrays more about the emotional state than the size of the letters involved.

To be considered attractive is not the same as having charisma, of owning the pull of magnetism that is so rich, so powerful, that the public will stop and listen to your voice, take note of your actions, and generally follow the Sensation which is you for as long as you live. The state of attractiveness is not down to appearances, but it is just as fleeting, and yet personality, captivation of the human mind can be eternal, and one that should never be dismissed as quick and simple as the allure of momentary introduction and the likening of the Helen of Troy syndrome.

The difference that becomes apparent when illumination is added to a scene is one that is palpable and welcome, for there is nothing worse than your imagination finding solace in the dark where scurrying creatures can lay eggs of doubt, confusion and inner torment; the form of mental torture that comes from standing in a dark room and not being able to find the light is profoundly fearsome, demonstrably emotional striking, and when you know the light will lift the mood, even if it shows the horrors under a more cynical glare.

The lot of the toolmaker is fraught with the ebb and flow of time, for a period they can be busy making custom tools for society to grow, but when society consumes itself and refuses to invest in the talent that makes life worth living, then the Toolmaker’s Blues are there to be heard, to be seen, to be felt deeply and with regret on how the local community acknowledges that they have become stagnant and dulled by the pursuit of every purchase, every job and meaningful expression, to be given away for free.

The idea that anything other features or familial quirks is automatically inherent can be quite a galling proposition, it lacks the belief of progression, that just because one person was, for example, a world leader of their chosen sport, does not mean that their offspring will hold any type of talent for the career their parent was able to pursue.

It is not about losing faith, it is about accepting that imposed limitations of progressive thought are not good for the soul, nor for the open-minded, non-judgemental approach we must seriously adopt as a species, as a society, if we are to move away from the shackled mindset dictated by doctrine and dogma of the last two thousand years and those that have suggested reprisals against any Apostate belief.

It might not always be the case, but a song that undoubtedly comes from the soul is arguably indicative of the nature of the person who creates it, and who brings it to life in the performance. It is the reflection of the depth of humanity felt by the listener that reveals the nature of the art and the artist, and when the subject is stripped back to see how it works, how the cogs and wheels interchange within movements, it feels as though the intention was to fracture the spirit and not be concerned about the damage when somebody implores, “Don’t Break Me Up”.
