The belief in playing to your strengths is one that is fraught with the acknowledgement that you might never improve in other areas, the whole notion of only ever drawing upon one set of ideals or inspiration is an anathema to writing, it stunts creativity and can lead to the permanent pigeon holing of your possible future endeavour. Yet for all that some conceding must take place when it considers the future of what could be a demanding series, in which the plot begs for a choice to made, one of social commentary or the mystery at hand.

We can never truly understand what goes through the mind of a murderer, for some it is a moment of insanity in which they cannot explain the event or their feelings towards the act in any manner that makes sense to the system or the potential psychiatrist who wishes to probe into the complexity of the situation; for others it is a marker, of dominance, of power, of holding a life in the grip of their hands and understanding full well the implications of their actions, and the possible thrill they get as they watch from a close enough distance their act being investigated.

It never does a television series any harm to rejuvenate itself every now and then, it arguably suggests an element of self-awareness that it is willing to go through the process of reincarnation, like an insect that becomes sheltered in its cocoon, when it re-emerges out into the sunlight it can be seen to be more colourful, more illuminating than it had the chance to be before.

The curse is a powerful tool when it comes to bringing a story of murder to life, it is the symbol of the preordained motif that will weave itself through the narrative and give a sense of comfort, as well as cunning, to the viewer as they watch the gruesome tale of death unfold.
