Iconic Ska Legends The Selecter have announced that they will celebrate their 35th anniversary with an extensive 26-date U.K. tour in February, March and April 2014, performing their seminal debut album Too Much Pressure in its entirety for the first time ever, the tour will also take in 02 Academy in Liverpool on 1st March.

Released on the legendary 2-Tone label, Too Much Pressure was a Top five selling album featuring a host of timeless classics, including Three Minute Hero, Missing Words and course Too Much Pressure – all of which were released on Top 40 charting singles.

The Chinese Year Of The Horse Is Celebrated In Style At The Unity Theatre.

On February 1st China Pearl, in association with the Unity Theatre, will celebrate the Chinese Year of the Horse by bringing a new eclectic Chinese cultural programme of authentic, innovative, exquisite and electrifying dance and music featuring traditional, contemporary and fusion styles.

The performances include China Pearl Chinese dance group, Chinese dancer Fenfen Huang – Dancer, choregrapher, creative producer and cultural educator with over 10 years’ working experiences internationally, Chinese dancer Susie Lu, Chinese harpist Yuxuan Su – A harpist with over a decade of performing experience internationally, Funky Mentals Break Dance group and Chinese singer Aaron Deng. It is also a chance to learn different aspects of Chinese culture including history, ethnicity and modernity.

Ian Anderson To Weave New Magic At The Philharmonic Hall In May.

After two magic years on the road with the Thick As A Brick shows, legendary Prog Rock icon Ian Anderson embarks upon a U.K. tour, following the release of his new concept album Homo Erraticus in April.

The 22-date U.K. tour kicks off in late April, before moving on to Europe and the United States of America.The show will feature Homo Erraticus –an epic voyage into the Progressive Rock pantheon of strangeness’ according to Anderson – in its entirety followed after the intermission by a collection of the artist’s favourite Tull classics. The performance will be illustrated and complemented by video and theatrical settings ‘to bring a tear to the eye’, an enthusiastic Anderson declared.

Liverpool Based Actress Denise Kennedy Brings The Story Of Bella Burge To The Unity Theatre.

Liverpool-based actress Denise Kennedy premieres her new show with live music, song, dance, and boxing, and tells the amazing true story of the world’s first female boxing promoter, Bella Burge, a woman who, after having toured the music halls as Marie Lloyd’s dresser, entered the male-dominated world of boxing.

She succeeded in taking over the running of south London boxing venue Blackfriars Ring from her husband, the ex prize-fighter Dick Burge – a promise made to him on his deathbed – until it was destroyed in a World War Two air raid in 1940.

Folk Legends, Tom Paxton And Janis Ian, To Perform At The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

Two of America’s greatest songwriters visit the U.K. together in March 2014.

Each with ties to the classic Greenwich Village folk scene, Tom Paxton and Janis Ian are nearly a generation apart yet share a slew of folk influences as well as an affinity for fearlessly tackling controversial issues.

Always armed only with his acoustic guitar, Paxton emerged in the days of hootenannies and wrote his share of what were then called protest songs. However he also wrote songs about love, humour and for kids. Many became oft-covered standards, including Bottle of Wine, Ramblin’ Boy and The Last Thing on My Mind.

The life and career of Liverpool-born singer Beryl Marsden is to be celebrated on stage in a brand new musical ONE DREAM:  The Beryl Marsden Story.

Following its sell-out pilot performances at the world famous Cavern Club on Mathew Street, ONE DREAM is now moving to the city’s Epstein Theatre from 14th-16th March this year. The performances mark the 50th anniversary of the release of Beryl’s live recording of Everybody Loves a lover on the L.P. ‘Live at The Cavern’.
