Alban Berg, medieval chant, traditional Irish song, 19th Century Russian literature, gothic fiction and Homer’s Odyssey are some of the inspiration for the work of this exceptional duo. Sue Rynhart and Huw Warren will be performing improvisations, arrangements and new music by Sue Rynhart. Huw Warren is a Welsh pianist, composer and educator whose work crosses and fuses many genres. His distinctive sound, innovative and eclectic music making has achieved an international reputation, awarding him the BBC Jazz Award for Innovation, and the ACW Creative Wales Award.

The Farucchio Peru Show Comes To The Studio in Widnes This March.
A riotously surreal concoction of clowning, kitsch and nonsense is heading to Widnes this March as The Farucchio Peru Show comes to the town’s historic Studio venue.
Farucchio Peru is the creation of Leebo Luby, a member of Liverpool-based, international theatre company Teatro Pomodoro, who most recently toured Cabaret From The Shadows across the U.K. and Europe. Luby describes the character as ‘a one-man army of all-round entertainment extravaganza…or a screwball idiot with ridiculous delusions of international stardom. Or perhaps both! This is his show. You be the judge.’ An alumni of Liverpool’s celebrated Hope Street Ltd, Luby trained with the esteemed teacher Philippe Gaulier before co-founding the clown company Man With A Porpoise, whose production Untitled Shakespeare tickled audiences at Prague Fringe 2014, Threshold Festival 2015 and was a London Sketch Fest Finalist.
Princess And The Hustler To Explore Pivotal Moment In UK’s Black Civil Rights Movement.
A powerful production about one of the biggest moments in U.K. Black Civil Rights will be brought to the Playhouse from 3-6 April, by the U.K.’s leading black-led theatre company Eclipse.
Princess and The Hustler focuses on a family’s life during the 1963 Bristol bus boycott. Theatre company Eclipse have previously brought A Raisin in the Sun to the Playhouse in 2016.
The production is a part of Eclipse’s Revolution Mix movement, which aims to deliver new Black British productions in theatre, film and radio nationally. The movement was launched with Black Men Walking – a sell-out production that visited the Unity Theatre in 2018.

Producers today announce the full cast that will take audiences over the rainbow in LHK Productions’ wizardly wicked Easter panto The Wizard of Oz, coming to The Epstein Theatre this April.

Dave Kirby and Nicky Allt’s Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels is one of Liverpool’s most successful plays, with more than 175,000 people having seen the show in the last 12 years. Brick Up 2 made its debut in 2017 and had a similar impact with 20,000 rushing to see the first run.
A local comedy that is full of original live music, the characters in Brick Up 2 will be instantly recognisable to anybody from Merseyside.

Madagascar – The Musical has confirmed that X Factor Winner Matt Terry will continue in the role of Alex the Lion on the critically acclaimed U.K. tour for 2019. Appearing at the Floral Pavilion from Tuesday 19th to Saturday 23rd March.
Since winning X-Factor, Matt has been non-stop. He’s been recording music all over the world including Miami, L.A. and Scandinavia. After a top 3 hit with the Ed Sheeran-penned winner’s single When Christmas Comes Around, he released his debut album Trouble in November 2017. His first single from the album, Sucker For You has had nearly 60 million streams on Spotify. After Sucker For You, Matt went back to his Spanish childhood by featuring on Enrique Iglesias’s smash single, Subeme La Radio alongside Sean Paul. Matt’s role in Madagascar has been hailed as a triumphant debut theatre performance. Receiving 5-star reviews across the tour.

The Brilliant Bard festival brings together key organisations from across the region to discuss and debate Shakespeare’s work, including Liverpool John Moores University, Edge Hill University, the University of Liverpool, Shakespeare North and the Everyman & Playhouse.
Representatives from each organisation will showcase the Bard’s work in an exciting and interesting way, giving people to opportunity to further explore plays by the nation’s greatest ever writer.

Liverpool Invited To Party Like It’s 1977 At The Playhouse With Abigail’s Party.
The Liverpool Playhouse are dusting off their shag-pile carpet and Demis Roussos records to welcome the touring production of Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party from 25th-30th March.
Featuring Jodie Prenger in the role of Beverly, the production heads to Liverpool as part of a huge national tour.
Made famous by the B.B.C. Play for Today series in 1977, the classic comedy follows Beverly and her husband Laurence as they host a party for newly-wed neighbours Tony and Angela. Joined by highly strung neighbour Susan – banished from the party of her teenage daughter Abigail -the group revel in free-flowing cocktails, disco classics and pineapple and cheese on sticks.
