Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10
Generation X have seen it all, had the words of forefathers and relatives placed like monuments before them, witnessed the aftermath of thought and the fear that came with the height of the Cold War, seen every possible technological breakthrough and discovery that could aid and inform the structure of their lives, and yet collectively didn’t pay enough heed to the warnings that would come by deciding they would ask those that followed in their wake to embrace the mantra, what they should have done is told them to run, not walk or idle, not stand still, but actively sprint far from the firing line that they now face.
See The Children Run, the new single from Jim Eannelli, which features the talents of Gary Tanin and Daryl Stuermer in blistering form, is of the uncompromising rock backed by a superb melody, and one with undercurrent of beautifully installed anger, one where the protests of youth have gone largely ignored and the censure and application of the gun, the bullet and government force have replaced understanding and the will to settlement via concession and settlement.
We should have ensured that our children had the same right as we did, to discover and investigate, to stand on their own two feet without bias or hinderance, and urge them to sprint, to run, possibly far from a world where their interactions with society now leave them with two options, obey or be damned.
Endurance of the spirit comes from the art that surrounds us, as Genesis spoke of the Man of Our Times, so we now search for the meaning of our experiences to provide solace and stories to those born without the means to strike back without fear of deadly reprisals. It is in the anthemic and chilling response to the world outside of the studio that Jim Eannelli paves the way, openly tears apart the apathy that has become engrained in society.
See The Children Run is the single we didn’t know we needed, it is the song of our time that we must embrace, that we must learn to push onto our children, so they don’t stand still and take the punches and sacrifice their dreams.
