Megan Walker: It’s A Cult. Single Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

Whilst social media has been a boon in many respects, it could be argued that at times we should be looking at its dangerous, tentacle like intrusion into our lives as a warning of what is to come, a foreshadowing where we are even more divided, placed into a credit like system for our beliefs and our unwillingness to be immersed into any system that screams loudly to our gut reaction that It’s A Cult.

The time has come to recognise that we are being played across the board, that life itself is adoration of worship that the narrow-minded activist wishes to exploit, pushes the narrative to ensnare those unwilling to say no to the critical threats that exist if you dare question anybody’s view or even wish to stay out of the line of fire.

To take on such a topic and argument is seen itself as a radical perspective, and one not to be taken without engaging in all possibilities first, but one that also recognises the need to admit children, teenagers and the unheard are at an ever growing pace prone to be the target of all ideologies and dogmas raised in modern society.

Inspired by an early anthemic garage rock feel, the new single from Megan Walker dives deep and hard into this warning, lyrically captivating, a seismic guitar sound that drives the single along with a ferocious but gentle reassuring sting, the mob mentality and public menaces that no longer hide in plain site but are actively open being held up to the face and account of each individual who resists the charge in a war on survival…this is a song of personal strength in action.

Megan Walker’s vocals are impressive, they sing with alacrity and passion, and in It’s A Cult the measure of the performance is highly appreciated and detailed. A great single from a woman destined to become a big name.
