The prospect of losing someone so very close to us is perhaps the most primal feeling we can possess, it consumes us inside and out, it makes us say words we don’t mean and commit actions that are beyond what we would normally consider respectable. To face up to that day when we lose a parent is perhaps even more consuming, never mind if we actually get along with them, whether we love them or haven’t spoken for years, to lose the ones that brought you into the world has a devastating effect, especially on a young impressionable mind.

Fantastic Four (2015). Film Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 3/10

Cast: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, Tim Blake Nelson, Dan Castellaneta, Owen Judge, Evan Hannemann, Chet Hanks, Mary-Pat Green, Tim Heidecker, Mary Rachel Dudley.

Someone, somewhere owes many cinema goers and fans of the Fantastic Four one big apology for what can only be described as a detailed examination of how not to bring comic book heroes to life. If the apology isn’t forthcoming, it can only be down to the fact that many who were involved in the project will have conveniently forgotten their involvement very quickly.

The Escape Artist, Television Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Cast: David Tennant, Toby Kebbell, Sophie Okonedo, Ashley Jensen, Jeany Spark, Tony Gardner, Katy Dickie, Brid Brennan, Monica Dolan, Anton Lesser, Roy Marsden, Alistair Petrie, Patrick Ryecart, Stephen Wright, Gus Barry.

David Tennant doesn’t seem to have been off the television during 2013 and thank heavens for that. Not content with playing the lead role as Detective Alec Hardy in the phenomenal Broadchurch, Aiden Hoynes in The Politician’s Husband, the dashing Jean-Francois Mercier in the acclaimed Spies of Warsaw and a little matter of reprising his role as the tenth incarnation of The Doctor for the 50th Anniversary of the much beloved Science Fiction programme, let alone his work on stage for the R.S.C, it’s fair to say that the Scottish actor has never seemed busier.
