Austin Mitchel Hewitt Returns To Liverpool With World Premiere.

Internationally renowned puppeteer and performer Austin Mitchel Hewitt returns to his home town of Liverpool to present the world premiere of his first solo show I’m Happy Here (honest) at The Unity Theatre on March 25th and 26th.

This new production features a compelling mix of puppetry, shadow, music, clowning, visual theatre and storytelling to explore the burred line that memory creates through the retelling of stories; making them almost ‘fairytale’ in quality. It features an original soundtrack and songs by local musician Barry Han, who has written for Tmesis Theatre and Periplum Theatre companies.

Liverpool Based Actress Denise Kennedy Brings The Story Of Bella Burge To The Unity Theatre.

Liverpool-based actress Denise Kennedy premieres her new show with live music, song, dance, and boxing, and tells the amazing true story of the world’s first female boxing promoter, Bella Burge, a woman who, after having toured the music halls as Marie Lloyd’s dresser, entered the male-dominated world of boxing.

She succeeded in taking over the running of south London boxing venue Blackfriars Ring from her husband, the ex prize-fighter Dick Burge – a promise made to him on his deathbed – until it was destroyed in a World War Two air raid in 1940.

Three Home Grown Greats Make Thier Way To The Unity Theatre.

Opening with a new production, Virtually Reality examines how advancements in bio-technology and artificial intelligence will shape the future of the world we live in. The Bells is a reinvigorated adaptation of the classic and rarely performed Victorian melodrama set in a mountain village with a terrible secret… The Judgement Of Hakim examines security and privacy in this new play directed by Spike Theatre’s Mark Smith – how far are we willing to find the truth?

Petite Ullaloom are the sister company to Ullaloom. The company produces original writing, commision based work and exciting, imaginative theatre for children. Petite Ullaloom collaborated with Unity Theatre on the successful productions of The Snow Queen and The Red Shoes.
