John Evans Brings His Play Is There Anybody There To The Unity Theatre.

When John Evans play, Is There Anybody There, ran at The Lantern Theatre it was so well received and enjoyed by packed audiences that it has been decided to put it on once more, this time at The Unity Theatre on Hope Street from July 18th till the 20th.     

This acidic comedy about four best friends who has seen bereavement, missing jewels, lively furniture and bizarre knitting projects prompt a visit to local psychic Ray Fey to demand answers. Ray reveals much more about the friends’ unshared secrets than the Liverpool ladies ever expected.

Some patients experience hallucinations, often of voices ridiculing them and may have delusions that they have been responsible for a horrific catastrophe’. How can we understand the intricacies of a clinically unstable mind, when we ourselves are volatile and unbalanced?’

Extreme Withdrawal Is Manifest is an intense play that follows the traumatic experiences of a mother left drowning in the wake of her daughter’s disappearance. The gripping narrative hurtles the audience through the devastating events leading up to her disappearance, portraying the struggles endured by the pair as they fight against the daughter’s mental instability. As the tension builds, the characters and the audience become desperate to understand what’s occurring before them. The play is a stark portrait of mental instability where reality crashes with imagination. Fresh truths are revealed about the destructive and chaotic complexities of the human mind.

Wez Zaharuk Brings His Family Show, Perfectly Bananas, To The Lantern Theatre.

Perfectly Bananas, Wes Zaharuk’s zany family show, is coming to the Lantern Theatre in Liverpool on Sunday 1st June at 2.30pm.

Canadian Wes Zaharuk is a one-man tour de force, drawing audiences excited to see his crazy antics on stage. Known to combine routines with power tools, bananas and film noir, Wes has a world-wide reputation for a tornado-like approach to comedy, surreal feats and an eccentric collection of eye-popping prop tricks.

About the use of props in his performance Wes quips, “Show business sometimes lures people who didn’t get enough love early in life. I feel as a child I didn’t get enough unsupervised time with power tools but who has perfect parents?”

Tir na nOg To Return To Liverpool For The First Time In 40 Years.

The legendary Irish duo, Tir na nOg, are returning to Liverpool after a gap of 40 years and are appearing at The Lantern Theatre on Sunday, 17thMarch – St Patrick’s Day!

Tir na nOg have been described as Alt Folk, Prog Folk, Psych Folk, and even Space Folk! However, the duo, formed by Leo O’Kelly and Sonny Condell in 1970, transcends all these categories. What is not in doubt is that they are two of the most original and influential songwriters and performers Ireland has ever produced.

The Lantern Theatre To Showcase John Evans’ Play Is There Anybody There.

The Lantern Theatre on Blundell Street continues its run of local and innovative theatre with Is There Anybody There which runs from Friday February 25th to Friday 1st March. The play, which is written by Merseyside playwright John Evans, sees a  son caught knitting a willy-warmer…extra large, a  wardrobe with a tendency to go walkabout and a deranged grandmother, who is forever wailing, ‘I shouldn’t have done it…I shouldn’t have done it.’ Added to this mystery is the jewellery that went missing, along with the newly deceased and the whole thing starts looking as if the family require urgent answers.

Theatre Company Show Their Box Of Tricks As They Bring My Arms To The Lantern Theatre.

Following the success of its world première at Manchester’s 24:7 Theatre Festival, My Arms embarks on a tour of the North this January. Reuniting director Adam Quayle (Picture a City at Liverpool Everyman’s Everyword Festival) and playwright James Leach (an Associate Playwright on Bolton Octagon’s Incubate scheme), Box of Tricks brings this critically-acclaimed play to venues including Liverpool’s Lantern Theatre.

Told in reverse order, My Arms is a compelling new one-hour drama about a couple in crisis after a tragic event that changes their lives forever. The play is a fascinating examination of human relationships inspired by stories of the wives of men who go to prison. When Colin arrives home with fish and chips, will wife Helen be able to give him a second chance?

Phoenix Of Avalon To Launch New E.P., Reborn, At The Lantern Theatre.

The Lantern Theatre in Liverpool is the setting for the E.P. launch of Reborn by Phoenix of Avalon on the 16th January. The highly anticipated E.P. consists of four new original tracks and intends to blur the lines between modern and classic rock.

All four tracks were written by both members of Phoenix of Avalon; Stephen Redfern and David Connor, and produced, engineered and recorded at Crash Studios Liverpool, by Andy Fernihough. The pair  share writing responsibilities with previous musical offerings including; Paradise Way, Joker & the Fool and One Last Chance. Phoenix of Avalon draw upon many influences including; Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, The Beatles, David Bowie & Black Sabbath to produce a classic rock inspired sound perfectly executed and complimented on stage with a high energy stage performance.
