There is always a debate on whether it is the atmosphere, the songs or the venue in which the music is played in which gives the night its vibe, its sense of hopefully glorious thrill and heart pounding beauty; a night which if you are fortunate enough to attend will leave you breathless and on the verge of weeping tears of joy of having had the honour of witnessing unfold.

Winter is upon us, the dark nights have crawled in, the fog of uncertainty has become a more dangerous proposition and the furious and the disenchanted have taken root inside the minds of all who consider scorn and unwarranted cynicism a viable solution to the problems that we face together. It is in that almost unshakable nihilism that the brightness of a single star can be seen as a wonder, that to find a reason to show the sneering and the put down merchants why exactly you should be able to say calmly the words, Made My Peace With You, without stooping to their level.

Winter may be coming, the sound of the first crunch of ice hangs in the northern air and the sense that the darkness will, as always, be consuming and the lights that flicker mournfully will only stretch so far in their guidance towards the new dawn, the dark season may be approaching but for Paul Dunbar & The Black Winter Band Barely Holding On is not an option, in fact it is with tender relief and liberation of spirit that Paul Dunbar is back to doing what he does best, making incredibly beautiful music.
