The art of the showman may entail many effects, a stage full of experience, the sprinkle of dust wherever possible, the unrelenting passion to pull off the impossible and the big sonic boom in which to thrill the audience with, that moment in which a crowd goes nuts, in which the night was well and truly owned by the fantastic and the sheer delightful.

No matter what, the story of Kiss keeps going. Nearly 40 years down the line Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons continue to let this gargantuan behemoth draw breathe and thrill their millions of fans. For their 20th album release Monster, the ingredients that made them absolute show stoppers and musical entertainers are still there and it seems as if this Monster will not be tamed.

Big, brash, over the top, completely superb and unmistakably Kiss. The new album released this week by the fathers of rock theatre is the cunningly titled Sonic Boom and not one track on the album is delivered in any type of off hand sluggish way, this is an album that does what is says on the cover.
