The voice of the lost author, the ghost writer, the one who lends their talent to a less than able conjurer of words is often overlooked by history because they are held in a manner of bondage, the current term of such branded captivity is that it is good for exposure, that the remuneration received is surely enough; whatever way you look upon it, regardless of the gender of the person involved, it amounts to the same thing, a literary captivity, the suppression of acknowledgement, of gilded slavery.

It takes a fearless and heroic person to bring a legend to the screen, to attempt, to undoubtedly crack, the enigma that lay behind their story, be it in the fascinating, gruesome, indecorous or the beautiful; or in the case of one of the more celebrated writers of the time, Oscar Wilde. It could be argued that all four states of human feeling and postured masks can be seen than in perhaps anybody else who strode across the world’s stage in an era which was harsh, unforgiving, brutal and by today’s standards ruthlessly riddled with toxic masculinity.

Prison is not a place where the unknown stays hidden for long and yet for Frank Preston, serving Time for the stealing £100,000 pounds, the exact location of his ill-gotten gains has remained a complete mystery to everybody but him.

The insurance business, like any other involving risk and money, is always one that has both its admirers and its detractors. To some who feel as though they have been placed into a corner and had their livelihoods threatened by such practices, the steepness of premiums, of the loss that could be potentially involved is something that rankles with the fury of a volcano but to which hardly can ever be done; after all everybody needs insuring for something.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, especially when it is the prime target for an assassination attempt on British soil of a foreign head of state.

The fourth box set of the highly popular adaptations of The Avengers lost episodes series sees both Dr. Keel and John Steed take a bit of a back seat in the opening chapter and one that with all the best will in the world feels as though it is still feeling the after effects of the falling out between the two characters at the end of Volume Three.

The life of Bill Rohan was always going to be exceptional, especially when he is the alter ego of British film maker John Boorman, it just always seemed a shame that the account of his life seemed to stop in mid flight in the superb 1987 British film Hope and Glory.

The art of political assassination is one that still holds the weight of intrigue in the modern world, perhaps more so than at any point since the 1960s and the deaths of two of the Kennedy brothers, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King and countless others hit the headlines and stunned the world over.

The third volume of stories from Big Finish concerning The Avengers team of Dr. David keel and John Stead starts with the premise of a prison break out. It is a premise that has been done before the 1960s series first aired and has been done perhaps more successfully since, notably in one of the best films ever in the Shawshank Redemption and in the highly popular Prison Break television series, and yet there is something nostalgic and homely about revisiting an idea when you take away the modern bells and whistles attached to a story.

The glass is never half full for the Doctor. There should be a point in the Doctor’s life where someone sits him down and examines in depth, just what would happen if boredom ever got the better of him! For even in the smallest detail of finding himself cut off from his Tardis on a stretch of lonely beach, there is always a house on an island in which the allusion to an Agatha Christie novel will appear.
