To be given the opportunity to study the craft of a genius, that is surely all any writer or observer of life can ever hope to be gifted, and to be involved with one of Britain’s foremost political satirists and writers of modern farce, even in a viewing capacity, must be at the very least, sheer heaven.

Frozen II. Film Review.

The phenomenon will always be with us, the occurrence of the cinematic event that manages to infiltrate almost every aspect of life and society is one that either is embraced or shunned with seemingly equal proportions. Whilst the Marvel Studio may have held the position of top dog in the last decade, the undisputed King of the block, it is to the characters of Elsa and Anna that the Queens of the Frozen franchise have infiltrated their way into theatre productions, the songs, the costumes, the public, arguably cannot get enough of the sisters, their snowman and the magic of their lives.

Murder On The Orient Express (2017). Film Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Cast: Kenneth Branagh, Penelope Cruz, Willem Defoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Marwan Kenzari, Olivia Colman, Lucy Boynton, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Sergei Polunin, Tom Bateman, Miranda Raison, Paapa Essiedu, Michael Rouse, Joseph Long, Elliot Levey, David Annen, Kathryn Wilder, Phil Dunster.

It is a story that evokes images that many of us will never see, never experience and one that captures the raw cold hate of many emotions, as well as the beauty of the scenery that is on offer as one of the most famous pieces of engineering takes its passengers through Europe.

Beauty And The Beast. Film Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 7/10

Cast: Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Hattie Morahan, Haydn Gwynne, Gerard Horan, Ray Fearon, Ewan McGregor, Ian Mckellen, Emma Thompson, Nathan Mack, Audra McDonald, Stanley Cadenza, Clive Rowe, Adrian Schiller.

Heralded as one of the great Disney classics of all time, Beauty and the Beast is a scintillating tale of compassion over anger, of love over objectivity and quite rightly has become engrained in the heart of those who have taken its message of purity and simplicity against force and prejudice to its true place in the psyche; love conquers all they say and yet sometimes love is not quite enough to warrant taking a much loved animated film and turning into a live action feature, sometimes love just isn’t enough.

It is funny how often you can be suckered into watching a film in which you know is going to give you the most amazing premise but somehow has less chance of delivering upon the promise of good times and stomach aching laughter than a President being so well adored that the American voters would allow them any indiscretion going. They wouldn’t even clamour for their impeachment if they were caught in bed playing an out of tune flute whilst whispering sweet nothings to the Russian Ambassador as they talked of handing back Sarah Palin and the state of Alaska back to Moscow.
