Doctor Who: Starlight Robbery, Audio Drama Review, Big Finish 176.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Cast: Sylvester McCoy, Tracey Childs, Christian Edwards, Stuart Milligan, Dan Starkey, Jo Woodcock, Lizzie Roper.

There are just so many excellent elements to Starlight Robbery that it is surely impossible to dislike. Aside from the sublime writing of Matt Fitton, who makes a welcome return after a few months away, you have the erstwhile Elizabeth Klein, portrayed as usual with great assurance and ease by Tracey Childs, the sublime Stuart Milligan reprising his role as Garundel and the inclusion of the great Dan Starkey playing every Sontaran under the sun, what more could you ever want in an audio C.D.?

Cast: David Tennant, Joanne Froggatt, Vicky McClure, Lacey Turner, Luke Bryant, Jo Woodcock, Peter McNeil O’ Connor.

It may be the thought of Sky Arts encroaching into old familiar B.B.C. territory with their half hour series of plays that forced the channel to follow suit and commission Dominic Savage to write five stand-alone plays that break the boundaries of television drama production.  Whatever the reason, Dominic Savage came up with the goods in the first of these to be televised over the next few nights and in Joanne Froggatt, David Tennant and Vicky McClure they hit quality drama gold.

Cast: Billie Piper, Kaya Scodelario, Charlie Creed Miles, Jenny Agutter, Jo Woodcock.

In the third of five episodes by writer Dominic Savage, Billie Piper shows her mettle as lonely and unsatisfied teacher Holly. Being a teacher is a thankless task, especially when your private live is unfulfilling, your mother asks the same questions about who you are seeing and then all of a sudden your private life, well it’s not so private anymore.

True Love, Adrian. Television Review. B.B.C. Television.

The final part of True Love centred on a divorced father who was willing to go the extra mile for that someone special. If Sandra, the previous episode was the weak chain in the five part series, then writer Dominic Savage pulled out all the stops to make Adrian a tour de force that really could have gone on for a lot longer than the half hour allotted to it.
